Virtuoso Appoints Kolner As Senior Vice President, Global Member Partnerships
Virtuoso has announced that company veteran David Kolner will be taking over the organization’s relationships with its travel agency members. As the senior vice president, Global Member Partnerships, Kolner will lead the team responsible for servicing, growing and developing the network’s relationships with more than 355 travel agency partners and their 9,000 travel advisors in 28 countries.
Prior to joining Virtuoso, Kolner held a variety of leadership roles in travel companies. At Orbitz for Business (formerly Highwire), he led the global product rollout and designed an industry-leading policy management feature for online corporate booking tools. At OAG, Kolner helped redefine web and online strategy with a new commerce-based website and new corporate-management technology solutions. During his time with United Airlines, he both helped launch and manage then-industry-leading United Connection software, providing the largest consumer booking tool available to date; he also worked as a Corporate and Retail Account Executive, negotiating corporate volume agreements, GDS, and the full spectrum of United Airlines products.
Un-Cruise Adventures Hires Two Business Development Directors
Un-Cruise Adventures, a small ship cruise line based in Seattle and Juneau, Alaska has hired two new professionals to its outside sales team. Julie Quarry and Cyndi Denman join the company in new positions as business development directors.
A 30-year travel industry professional, Quarry has spent most of her career working with national accounts, AAA, Signature and Virtuoso. She was most recently the director of business development at Country Walkers. Other positions include director of national accounts at Trafalgar Tours, ten years with Cruise West as director of national accounts, and outside sales manager at Glacier Bay Tours & Cruises. She has a degree in travel and tourism from Knapp College of Business and is an accomplished photographer.
Most recently, Denman spent five years with Ponant Yacht Cruises and Expeditions as sales director for North America & Canada. Other work experience includes director of national accounts at Pleasant Holidays; director of national accounts at Cruise West; Jewel River Cruises’ director of sales for western US and Canada; and sales positions at Costa Cruise Line, Air Jamaica, and Continental Airlines Vacations. She earned a bachelor’s degree at University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Quirk Hotel, A Destination Hotel, Announces New Senior Sales Manager
Quirk Hotel, A Destination Hotel, announces today the hire of brand-experienced, hospitality sales expert Ryan Schilling as senior sales manager. Schilling joins the team at Quirk Hotel with a distinguished career as a successful sales person at hotels and resorts, primarily in the state of Virginia, most recently serving as national sales manager at Boar’s Head Inn, located in Charlottesville. Prior to this role, Schilling spent 11 years with Richmond’s iconic Jefferson Hotel holding the title of corporate sales manager.
Topdeck Travel appoints Flight Centre head Janine Salame as new UK/Europe General Manager
Youth travel expert Topdeck has appointed Janine Salame as the new general manager for Topdeck Travel UK/Europe. Salame will take up the new role in July following 15 years of service at Flight Centre South Africa, the last six as managing director.
Salame plans to shake up the youth travel market and drive Topdeck Travel’s European growth with a fresh product offering, innovative localized marketing strategies and an aggressive social media strategy.
New General Manager Appointed at The Shores Resort & Spa
Hospitality Ventures Management Group has named Jason Kern general manager of The Shores Resort & Spa, the only AAA Four-Diamond oceanfront resort in Central Florida. Effective immediately, Kern will assume executive responsibilities for the 212-room property, where he has been director of sales since February 2012.
Prior to joining The Shores, Kern spent eight years at the Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Fla. as director of sales and marketing, and, prior to that, director of national accounts and director of group sales. Kern began his hospitality career at Universal Orlando Resort, where he was an opening team member in Resort Event Sales and Services for Islands of Adventure and CityWalk, and was also on the Resort Sales opening team for Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel, and Royal Pacific Resort. An avid surfer and golfer, Kern resides in Flagler Beach with his wife and two young daughters.
Oscar Suarez Appointed As General Manager Of The Langford Boutique Hotel
The 126-guest room Langford Hotel, the newest hotel to come to downtown Miami, owned and developed by Stambul and managed by Trust Hospitality, the leader in hospitality management, has named seasoned hospitality executive Oscar Suarez as general manager.
Prior to joining The Langford, Suarez served as general manager of the Circa 39 Hotel Miami Beach. He was previously the director of operations of Polaris World Resorts, a holiday resort company centered on golf courses designed by Jack Nicklaus, and Area General Manger for BLT Steak. Suarez has also worked as assistant general manager for Lago Mar Resort & Club in Fort Lauderdale and Sonesta Hotel in Coconut Grove, Florida, in various capacities. Suarez earned a BA in hospitality management from Florida International University and holds a culinary arts degree from Johnson & Wales University.

Casino Royale, Golden Casino and Diamond Casino, located on the Caribbean island of St. Maarten, welcomes Sergio Porcasi as vice president of casino operations. The Italian native boasts more than 24 years of experience in the casino industry and, in his new position, Porcasi will employ his strong expertise, drive and ambition to spearhead improvements to all of the casinos’ operations, while also motivating a successful team environment.
Before joining the Maho Casino Group, Porcasi served for six years as corporate casino operations manager for MSC Cruises, managing operations of 12 sea casinos as well as supervising and analyzing all financial operations and results. From 1996 to 2009, Porcasi was casino manager for Royal Caribbean International. He managed onboard casino operations with additional responsibilities including employee management and training, financial supervision and analysis. Porcasi obtained diverse qualification in casino management and received a Slot Academy Diploma from the University of Reno, Nevada.
