Hotel Nikko San Francisco Names Thomas Director of Individual Business Travel Sales

Hotel Nikko San Francisco recently appointed Tonita Thomas as the hotel’s new director of individual business travel sales.

Thomas began her hospitality career as Reservations Manager at the Taj Campton Place, a Forbes Four Star Hotel. Later she joined the sales team at the Hotel Palomar in 2004 and was a member of the Kimpton team for almost four years. Tonita spent the next eight years of her career with IHG selling the InterContinental Hotels of San Francisco and she worked her way up to the position of senior corporate sales manager. Most recently Tonita held the position of associate director of business travel at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach. Tonita’s extensive background in hospitality, business travel sales and her overall positive attitude will make her a great asset to the Nikko team.

Cruise Planners Welcomes Faulds as Director of Marketing

Cruise Planners, an American Express Travel Representative, welcomes Stacie Faulds as its new director of marketing. Faulds joins Cruise Planners with more than 20 years of marketing communications experience at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau where she most recently served as the director of marketing.

At the Convention & Visitors Bureau, Faulds was an integral part of the team that rebranded Greater Fort Lauderdale from a spring break mecca to its current year-round international leisure and meetings destination through award-winning marketing programs, including the Hello Sunny brand campaign and award-winning website. Faulds has collaborated with Cruise Planners on marketing initiatives targeting Cruise Planners Travel Advisors, pre- and post-cruise visitors and LGBT-travel, including the successful Love is Love event in celebration on same-sex marriage equality. Faulds will continue this legacy while bringing her diverse background in tourism marketing to the role.

Hunt Valley Inn Appoints Todd Rodemyer As New Director Of Food & Beverage

Hunt Valley Inn, a Wyndham Grand, the premier destination for meetings, conferences and social escapes in the greater Baltimore area, is pleased to announce the appointment of Todd Rodemyer as director of food & beverage. A respected industry veteran, Rodemyer brings nearly two decades of experience to the Hunt Valley Inn, where he will oversee banquet and event offerings across the 392-key property that also serves as the region’s largest conference center.  

Most recently, Rodemyer served as food and beverage director at the Wyndham Hamilton Park Hotel and Conference Center where he successfully reopened the property’s signature bar and lounge after a complete renovation, exceeding year-over-year revenue and sales numbers since its original opening. He served as general manager for the Texan Station Restaurant and Silver Bar, the largest and highest volume restaurant at the Gaylord Texan Resort Hotel & Convention Center. While there, he also served as a Senior Leader on the Resort Food & Beverage team and executed high profile events with the Dallas Cowboys, Miller Brewing Company and Nationwide Insurance.

Terranea Resort Announces New Promotions

Terranea Resort, A Destination Hotel, is pleased to announce two new appointments: Mitch Mehr as vice president of food and beverage operations and strategic planning, and Roye Mbarah as senior director of facilities and strategic long term capital planning.

As an eight-year veteran with Destination Hotels, Mitch Mehr will now serve as vice president of food and beverage operations and strategic planning for Terranea Resort. Mehr previously led the purchasing department team as director of purchasing and food and beverage projects at Terranea, and before his time at the property, held positions at Destination Hotels corporate office, Kimpton Hotel Group and with China Grille Management.

Roye Mbarah has been promoted to senior director of facilities and strategic long term capital planning at Terranea, where he will continue to lead the engineering function and oversee responsibility for all capital projects. Prior to joining Terranea, Mbarah oversaw a 1200-room 1.45 million square-foot property in San Francisco’s Union Square and served in a leadership role with the emphasis on short and long-term asset maintenance, rehabilitation strategy of an aged product, and energy and sustainability efforts. Previous roles also include director of technical services with responsibilities of project management for the $72M renovation of The James Royal Palm Miami Beach, and area director of engineering with Interstate Hotels and Resorts Worldwide with management responsibilities for the orientation of new chief engineers and capital expenditure projects.

Waldorf Astoria Chicago Director of Catering & Events Honored with 2015 Hilton Worldwide Circle of Excellence Award

The AAA Five-Diamond Waldorf Astoria Chicago is honored to congratulate Ashley Ochse, director of catering & events for being recognized with the Hilton Worldwide 2015 Circle of Excellence Award for placing in the top 10 percent of the luxury catering sales professionals in the Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts brand.

The annual recognition program exemplifies sales, catering, and event service team members within the Hilton Worldwide family, who achieve their annual sales and catering revenue goals. To be eligible to receive this prestigious award, team members were required to complete training courses, earn a positive performance score, demonstrate leadership qualities, and achieve sales excellence.

Hilton Waikoloa Village Appoints David Givens as General Manager

Hilton Waikoloa Village has appointed David Givens to the position of general manager effective June 18.

Givens joins the hotel from Interstate Hotels & Resorts, where he was vice president of operations, overseeing multiple branded properties and ownership groups. Prior to that, he held the dual role of vice president operations and general manager for Interstate’s China Division (seven properties) and managed the 850-room DoubleTree by Hilton Shanghai – Pudong. He successfully took the former Sofitel property through a brand change to become the first DoubleTree by Hilton franchised hotel in China. Prior to moving to China, Givens was the general manager of multiple hotels throughout the United States including Hilton Waikiki Beach in Honolulu.  

Gregg Herning Joins Bellagio As Vice President Of Sales

Bellagio announced the appointment of Gregg Herning as the resort’s new vice president of sales.  In this role, he is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for all sales efforts at Bellagio, a AAA Five Diamond, 3,933-room resort. With more than 200,000 square feet of space, Bellagio’s elegant and flexible meeting and convention facilities have received numerous awards including 5 Keys (the highest designation) from Green Key Meetings Rating Program.

Bringing 30 years of sales and marketing experience to the role, Herning leads his team with innovative thinking to create the most memorable meeting and convention guest experience available today. He also takes great pride in providing comprehensive skills training and career development for his teams.

Most recently, he served as the vice president of Sales for MGM Grand. Before joining MGM Resorts International in 2013, Herning served as Brand Vice President for the award-winning Peabody Hotel Group. 

The Highland Dallas Welcomes Kelly As New Director Of Sales & Marketing

 The Highland Dallas is thrilled to announce the appointment of Shannon Kelly as director of sales and marketing. Shannon brings more than twenty years of executive experience in the fields of hospitality and technology to his new role at the recently transformed hotel. In his position, Kelly will manage all aspects of the sales and marketing division, including leading strategic initiatives and executing dynamic campaigns that will continue the growth and recognition of The Highland.

A decorated alumnus of the US Naval Academy and a University of Maryland graduate, Shannon has directed a number of highly successful teams in the industry. Most recently, Shannon was general manager of the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place in Florida where he was named “GM of the Year” by Expotel Hospitality. Previous experience includes the role of director of sales & marketing for properties such as the Hilton & Doubletree Melbourne Beach Oceanfront in Florida, the Doubletree Dallas Market Center in Texas and the Lodge of Four Seasons Golf Resort & Spa in Missouri. Additionally, Shannon founded Kelly Hospitality Consulting, a consulting group that provides clients with marketing, public relations and task force sales and operations training.     

Casa Marina, A Waldorf Astoria Resort and The Reach, A Waldorf Astoria Resort Appoint Peter Carmichael as General Manager

Hilton Worldwide has announced the appointment of Peter J. Carmichael to general manager of both the historic Casa Marina Resort and refined The Reach, in Key West, Florida. Carmichael will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the iconic resorts, ensuring they continue to be an industry leader for both groups and leisure guests. The sister properties are nestled along the southern edge of the island off the Atlantic Ocean and are part of Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts.

A results-oriented leader with proven capabilities in delivering positive outcomes through innovation and process improvements, Carmichael joins Hilton from the InterContinental Hotels Group, where he held several global positions including director of operations in Indonesia, Indochina, and the Philippines; vice president of operations in Southeast Asia and Maldives and regional and senior vice president positions in Singapore, Seoul, Korea, and Bangkok. Prior, he was with Shangri-La Hotels as general manager in Beijing, Jakarta, and Surabaya.  Early in his career, Carmichael held general manager positons in Canada, enhancing customer experience while achieving record setting profits through a strong emphasis on team work and innovation. An active member of the community, he is a member of SKAL, Chaine des Rotisseures, The Indonesia Hotel Association, and Harley Davidson HOG Chapter.
