Rosewood Hotels & Resorts Appoints Philip Meyer As Managing Director Of Rosewood Hotel Georgia
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of Philip Meyer as managing director of Rosewood Hotel Georgia in Vancouver, British Columbia. In this role, Meyer will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the legendary hotel, including its recently-debuted Prohibition, popular alfresco lounge Reflections, 1927 Lobby Lounge and Sense, A Rosewood spa.
Meyer is an accomplished and respected international hotelier with proven experience in the management of boutique properties. Mostly recently, he held the role of general manger of Wedgewood Hotel and Spa in Vancouver, where he helped the hotel earn prestigious rankings in A-list travel publications throughout his 17-year tenure. Prior to his position at Wedgewood, Meyer served as general manager of several prominent boutique hotels, including the AAA Four Diamond Sherwood Inn in Ontario, Horsted Place Hotel in the United Kingdom and the family-owned Goring Hotels of London.
General Manager Appointed For Belmond Cadogan Hotel
Belmond today announced the appointment of Klaus Kabelitz as general manager of Belmond Cadogan Hotel in Knightsbridge, London, which will reopen in fall 2016 following a complete renovation.
Kabelitz is a seasoned hotel operator and will join Belmond on July 1, 2015 from Le Richemond Genève, a Dorchester Collection property he has managed since April 2012. Prior to taking up his position in Geneva, Kabelitz worked in London for 14 years, initially as house manager of Claridge’s, then as general manager of The Berkeley for nine years. He began his career working for various hotels in the Hilton collection, before joining Four Seasons in London and then Berlin.
CroisiEurope Appoints Cindy Christen as Director of Sales in North America
CroisiEurope, Europe’s largest river cruising company, has named Cindy Christen, CTC, as director of sales in North America. In her new role, Christen will manage the sales team of this rapidly expanding river cruise line. Additionally, Christen will be responsible for working with national accounts, host agencies and developing new group and charter business with tour operators in North America.
For the past nine years Cindy Christen served as sales manager for Uniworld Boutique River Cruises in Florida. Previously, she held management positions with Premier Cruises, First European Cruise Line, Carnival Air and more.
Joie De Vivre’s First-Ever East Coast Hotel, The Hall, Adds Two Key Hires
The Hall—a 163-room boutique hotel from Joie de Vivre debuting late summer 2015 in the heart of South Beach—is pleased to announce the appointment of two key industry players to its team. Effective immediately, Caroline Dyal joins The Hall as general manager, and Jimmy Blakeslee as the boutique hotel’s director of sales and marketing. Both bring senior-level industry expertise, as well as an acute understanding of lifestyle brands, to the team. With over nine years of hospitality sales experience all in the lifestyle segment, Blakeslee brings a wealth of industry knowledge and a keen brand appreciation to The Hall's opening team. Prior to joining Joie de Vivre, Blakeslee held sales leadership positions with Kimpton Hotels’ Washington, D.C. and Alexandria, VA properties, including Hotel Monaco DC, Hotel Monaco Alexandria, Lorien Hotel & Spa, Morrison House and Hotel George.
Heaney Appointed Chief Financial Officer at Carnival Cruise Line
James Heaney, an experienced financial executive with more than 25 years in the cruise and hospitality industries, has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer for Miami-based Carnival Cruise Line, the world’s largest cruise operator. In this capacity, Heaney will be responsible for all of the company’s financial, accounting and information technology functions.
Before joining Carnival, Heaney spent three years as CFO for SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc., responsible for overseeing the company’s financial organization. He previously held a number of executive financial positions, including CFO and senior vice president of finance and travel operations, at Disney Cruise Line where he worked for 17 years. Prior to that, Heaney held various financial posts at Royal Caribbean Cruises, as well as Pueblo International, which operated a large Florida-based grocery store chain, and Gould, Inc., a manufacturer of super mini-computers used primarily for military application.
Palace Resorts Names New Executives
Palace Resorts proudly announces the addition of Magda Hanna as regional director of sales for the West Coast and Linda Finley as director of sales for the Southeast region. In their new roles, both Hanna and Finley will lead sales initiatives relating to the meetings, incentives, conventions and events (MICE) market for the brand’s eight oceanfront resort properties in Mexico and the Caribbean.
With more than 12 years of experience in the Meetings & Incentives industry, Hanna brings a strong sales background, a deep familiarization with the meetings and incentives segment, a passion for generating new business opportunities and a proven track record in achieving results to her new position. Prior to joining the Palace Resorts team as Regional Director of Sales for the West Coast, Hanna most recently served as an independent contractor and an account executive for OPUS Events Agency where she sold meetings & incentives worldwide to corporate accounts in the U.S. Western Region.
Respected throughout the meetings & incentives industry, Finley boasts invaluable experience specializing in international resort sales throughout the Bahamas, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Finley launched her career as associate director of sales & marketing with Bonaventure Resort & Spa where she built a solid foundation leading sales. Throughout the course of her nearly twenty years in the industry, Finley has also held the titles of director of group sales for Occidental Hotels & Resorts and director of sales for the Sheraton Orlando North.
Scenic Cruises Promotes Richard Hickey to Director of National Accounts
Scenic Cruises has announced the promotion of travel industry veteran Richard Hickey to serve as director of national accounts. Adding to his current position as business sales director for the U.S. Southeast Region, Hickey will now work with the large accounts and consortiums that promote and sell Scenic and its award-winning river cruises on a national scale as well as seek out new sales channels.
Hickey has been working in various positions for several major travel companies throughout his 27-year travel career. He began with Norwegian Cruise Lines and has been both involved with both inside and field sales efforts for Disney Cruise Line, Club Med and Oceania. His past experience as manager of national accounts for MSC Cruises will serve him well as continues to foster those long term relationships. He enjoys a strong reputation within the agent community as a supporter of their sales efforts as well as someone who gets things done.
