Hilton Anatole Appoints Ta'alolo Puni Pau as Director of Recreation

The iconic Hilton Anatole today announced its appointment of Ta’alolo Puni Pau as the new director of recreation for the 1,606-room hotel located in the Dallas Design District. An accomplished hospitality professional with more than ten years of industry experience, Puni Pau rejoins the Hilton Worldwide family from Disney’s acclaimed Aulani Resort and Spa on the island of Oahu where he most recently served as recreation manager, leading the service and operations of the hotel’s award-winning aquatic facilities. In this new role, Ta’alolo will oversee the opening and operations of the Anatole’s heavily anticipated Jade Waters, an upscale resort-style pool complex opening this summer.

A graduate of Boise State University, Puni Pau has held leadership roles at a number of Hilton Worldwide properties in Santa Barbara and Anaheim, California and Nashville, Tennessee. He now resides in Dallas, Texas.

Waldorf Astoria Orlando and Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek Appoint Jonathan M. Raz as Director of Food & Beverage

Waldorf Astoria Orlando and Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, two premier hotels surrounded by the Walt Disney World Resort, have appointed Jonathan M. Raz as director of food and beverage. With nearly 20 years of experience in food and banquet operations, Raz will manage the culinary program for the entire dual-hotel property, including 12 restaurant and bar outlets, in-room dining for 1,498 guest rooms and the extensive 175,000 square foot banquet facility.

Raz has dedicated the majority of his career to the development of culinary programs at a variety of properties under in Hilton Hotels & Resorts portfolio. Most recently, he served as director of food and beverage for Hilton Orlando, where, under his leadership, the property was awarded Hilton Worldwide’s highest honor, The Connie Award, three times during his five-year tenure – an unprecedented accolade. Prior to this position, Raz assisted with the opening of Hilton Baltimore, the city’s largest and newest convention center hotel and also held the role of assistant director of banquets at Waldorf Astoria New York, where he gained comprehensive experience in complex banquet operations, overseeing the production of presidential dinners, galas and exclusive gatherings for up to 1,800 guests.

Belmond Appoints JP Kavanagh As General Manager Of Belmond Grand Hibernian

Belmond announces the appointment of JP Kavanagh as general manager of Belmond Grand Hibernian, Dublin, Ireland effective Monday March 7, 2016.

A graduate of Trinity College Dublin, Kavanagh began his hospitality career at The Connaught, London and has since built up 23 years’ experience in luxury hotels with the majority of his career spent operating hotels in the UK and Ireland. Kavanagh returns to his hometown of Dublin to draw on his specialist knowledge of the destination in preparation of the launch of Belmond Grand Hibernian. He joins Belmond immediately from the Doyle Collection’s Kensington Hotel in London. 

The son of a hotelier, Kavanagh brings a lifelong passion for hospitality and service that has been passed through the generations. Married with three children, Kavanagh is also a keen golfer and enjoys time out on the golf course with his sons.

Ya’lla Tours USA Welcomes New Western Region Sales Manager

Barbara Sargent, MCC, ACC has joined Ya’lla Tours USA as sales manager for the Western Region. Sargent began her career in the travel industry nearly 35 years ago working as a travel agent for 11 years and as a sales manager on the supplier side for the last 23 years. Based in Southern California, Barbara’s territory includes California, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah.

Marco Truffelli Appointed As General Manager Of Verdura Resort

Marco Truffelli has been appointed as new general manager of Verdura Resort, a Rocco Forte hotel in Sicily, Italy. With a solid track record of 28 years in luxury hospitality, Truffelli is a result based professional with both creative and strategic thinking and vision. He is a graduate of Cornell University School of Hotel Administration and he holds an MBA from the University of Edinburgh Business School.

A passionate and effective team developer and shaper Truffelli started his career with Trust House Forte at the Hyde Park Hotel in London, he later worked at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic and was the MD of The Town House Collection in Scotland before starting an international hospitality management, consultancy and advisory company. From 2014, Marco was General Manager of Borgo Egnazia, in Puglia.

W South Beach Appoints Ramon Von Schükkmann As Director Of Sales & Marketing

W South Beach, the iconic luxury lifestyle hotel located in the heart of South Beach, today announced the appointment of Ramon Von Schükkmann as director of sales & marketing. Von Schükkmann will oversee all sales and marketing efforts, including digital and creative marketing efforts, branding initiatives, strategic local partnerships, advertising, and local, national and international media efforts.

Von Schükkmann is a Starwood veteran who ventured into the hospitality industry 20 years ago in Amsterdam. He has since speared sales and marketing efforts for multiple hotels in The Netherlands, Canary Islands (Spain), the Algarve in the south of Portugal, Mauritius and most recently in the United Arab Emirates before joining W South Beach.  Hotels Von Schükkmann has lead sales and marketing efforts for include: the iconic Hotel Pulitzer in downtown Amsterdam, the 72-acre Pine Cliffs resort in Portugal and the first St. Regis in the Indian Ocean.  W South Beach is his first U.S. endeavor.

Omni Hotels & Resorts Names Director Of Sales And Marketing For Omni Louisville Hotel

Omni Hotels & Resorts announced today the appointment of Eamon O’Brien as director of sales and marketing for the Omni Louisville Hotel. In this role, he will oversee all sales and marketing efforts including managing, developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies that drive group, catering, business and leisure travel revenue.

O’Brien joins the Omni Louisville Hotel from the Louisville Marriott Downtown where he served as the property’s director of sales and marketing. Prior to that, he was the director of sales and marketing for the Hyatt Regency Louisville. O’Brien has also held numerous leadership and managerial positions with the Marriott brand at several Chicago properties, the Hyatt Regency Chicago, and the Grand Hyatt New York.

Omni Hotels & Resorts Welcomes Josh Heidenreich To Fort Worth

Omni Hotels & Resorts announced today the appointment of Josh Heidenreich as area managing director and general manager for the Omni Fort Worth Hotel. Heidenreich has more than 20 years of hospitality experience, and has been with Omni for eight years in various leadership positions. He comes to Omni Fort Worth after serving general manager positions at Omni Providence Hotel in 2013 and Omni New Haven Hotel in 2011 where he won Omni’s “2012 GM Award for Service.” Prior to that, Heidenreich was the hotel manager of Mokara Hotel & Spa in San Antonio when the hotel ranked No. 1 in Medallia scores for overall experience, service, accommodations and food and beverage. He also held a brief role as director of rooms at the Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas near Dallas. Prior to joining Omni, Heidenreich served as director of operations at Hotel Derek in Houston and worked a wide range of positions at the Fairmont Hotel Dallas.

Six Senses Ninh Van Bay Appoints Hilton Grant Hastings as General Manager

Six Senses Ninh Van Bay is delighted to announce the appointment of Hilton Grant Hastings as general manager. A native of South Africa and a true outdoorsman, Hilton entered his first resort management role in Madagascar as a watersport and marina manager at Anjajavy L’Hotel. From there, he enjoyed steady career growth into various positions from assistant general manager, resident manager to general manager. In 2007, Hilton joined Constance Hotels and Resorts and managed resorts in Madagascar, Maldives and most recently in Seychelles.

Hilton has immersed himself into his new role, overseeing all aspects of the property and even working with the culinary team to enhance the authenticity of the resort’s spectacular central Vietnam dining options. Hilton will also lead guests on guided snorkeling tours of the resort’s house reef and hikes to Bai Nho.

Ever-hungry for knowledge, Hilton has a degree in Industrial Psychology, Marketing and Communication and earned several useful certificates such as: Golf Course Management; Royal Yacht Masters Ocean Sailing Skipper; Cornell Hospitality Management; Structural Surveying from BABTIE Engineering UK. Hilton is a natural linguist fluent in Afrikaans, French and English with some Italian, Malagasy and Zulu. Fly-fishing and scuba diving have kept him busy on and in the water, while on land he samples local cuisines. An adventure-enthusiast, he once trekked the coast of Mozambique with only a bindle or cloth sack on his back, nourished by the fruit of the sea and hospitality of the locals. Hilton is married to Anna, a doctor of Marine Biology, another multi-lingual who shares his passion for nature conservation and scuba diving. Together they have two adventurous, young daughters.
