Intercontinental Resorts of French Polynesia Announces Top Management Appointments

InterContinental Resorts of French Polynesia has announced top management appointments at the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa, InterContinental Moorea Resort & Spa, and the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa.

Jean Marc Mocellin, general manager and 23-year veteran at the helm of the Parkroyal, Beachcomber InterContinental, is relocating mid-June to an InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) resort in Thailand. Thierry Brovelli, general manager of the InterContinental Moorea Resort & Spa for the last 11 of 19 years with IHG, will succeed Mocellin as InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa’s general manager. Charles de Resseguier, most recently from Accor in Vietnam and Belmond in the Caribbean, has been named deputy general manager.

Jean Hélière, deputy general manager of the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa for the past three years, has been promoted to general manager of the InterContinental Moorea Resort & Spa.

Guillaume Epinette, who has spent 13 years with IHG including the last five years as general manager of InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa, is moving to Asia for an IHG project opening in 2016. Stephane Massarini, formerly of the InterContinental properties in Ishigaki and Okinawa, Japan, has been appointed the new general manager of the resort.

Laurence Levy continues to serve as general manager of the InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort, celebrating seven years in the role and 15 years with IHG.

Kerstin Pace Appointed Director of Sales & Marketing at The Westin New York Grand Central

The Westin New York Grand Central has appointed Kerstin Pace as director of sales and marketing. Pace brings broad international experience to the hotel, after 15 years in various sales roles at Starwood brands in diverse markets across five countries. Pace joins the Westin New York Grand Central from The Westin Dublin, where she worked as director of sales & marketing since July 2010. Previously, Pace started her career as sales manager at the Westin Dragonara Resort, Malta followed by complex director of sales in Brussels with multiple properties at the Starwood Brussels Sales Complex.

She also held director of sales & marketing positions at Colombo’s Beach Resort and Spa, A Luxury Collection Resort in Porto Santo, Portugal and as pre-opening director of sales & marketing at St. Regis Mauritius Resort.  Pace also worked on divisional sales projects at the EAME divisional office in Brussels.

21c Museum Hotels Appoints Phil Forte General Manager of Louisville Property

21c Museum Hotels is pleased to announce the appointment of Phil Forte to the position of general manager of 21c Louisville. In his new role at 21c Louisville, Forte will be responsible for overseeing all hotel operations, sales, and community and guest relations.

An industry veteran with more than 18 years in hospitality, Forte has held a variety of management positions at boutique and luxury properties across the United States, bringing experience in the areas of hotel management, food and beverage, marketing, development, finance and sales to 21c Louisville. Most recently, Forte was the general manager at Aloft Tucson University Hotel – A Starwood Hotel.

Jeffrey Klein Named Vice President and Managing Director At Turnberry Isle Miami

Iconic Aventura resort Turnberry Isle Miami, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeffrey Klein as vice president and managing director. Klein, an almost eight-year Turnberry Associates executive who was serving as vice president of operations for the famed Fontainebleau Miami Beach, was hand-selected for the role. With nearly 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Klein will bring his exceptional leadership skills and established luxury hospitality expertise to Turnberry Isle Miami, allowing the resort to continue delivering unprecedented service and programming to guests and club members.

Prior to joining Turnberry Isle Miami, Klein was part of the executive team that relaunched the renowned Fontainebleau Miami Beach. He played an integral role in developing the hotel’s multi-million dollar food and beverage operation which includes several prominent restaurants such as Scarpetta, Hakkasan, StripSteak by Michael Mina and Michael Mina 74, and building a team of more than 1,200 employees. Prior to Fontainebleau, he spent seven years with Loews Hotels, holding vital leadership roles such as director of food and beverage, restaurant manager, banquet manager and director of guest services, where he honed his management and problem-solving skills.

Travel Leaders Taps Ron Cerko as Senior Vice President of Franchise Development and Franchise Services 

Travel Leaders Franchise Group has announced that well-regarded travel industry executive Ron Cerko, CTIE, has been appointed to spearhead its sales efforts as senior vice president overseeing Franchise Development and Franchise Services.  Reporting directly to Travel Leaders Franchise Group President Roger E. Block, CTC, Cerko will also lead the education & training team, as well as Travel Leaders’ Regional Franchise Consultants (RFCs). Travel Leaders Franchise Group is North America’s largest network of franchise travel agencies with more than 1,000 system-wide full-service franchised locations.

Cerko will join an already successfully growing organization. Travel Leaders publicly announced in February that it added new travel agency members with more than $633 million in worldwide sales over the past year.  Exceptional sales growth is something with which Cerko is familiar. Most recently, Cerko was a vice president with St. Louis-based car rental service provider Enterprise Holdings Inc. He was responsible for the Enterprise Holding’s travel industry development throughout the United States and Canada. Cerko’s career spanned nearly 25 years with Enterprise, where he rose through the ranks to excel as regional vice president of Enterprise Leasing of Chicago, then as general manager/vice president Enterprise Leasing of Minnesota.
