Omni Frisco Hotel Appoints Gayla Guyse

 Omni Hotels & Resorts announced the appointment of Gayla Guyse as director of sales and marketing for the Omni Frisco Hotel.  In this role, she will oversee all sales and marketing efforts for the luxury hotel including managing, developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies that drive group, business and leisure travel sales, as well as leading all advertising and communication initiatives.

Guyse brings 20 years of experience to the Omni Frisco Hotel, with more than half her career working in various leadership positions at several Omni properties.  Prior to joining the Omni Frisco Hotel, she served as director of sales and marketing at Omni Dallas Hotel at Park West. She has also held director positions in catering and conference services at the Omni Park West, as well as the Omni Fort Worth Hotel. Additionally, she served as food and beverage director for The Stoneleigh Hotel in Dallas, and director of catering and conference services at the Westin Beechwood (now the Dallas/Fort Worth Marriott Hotel & Golf Club).  

Cruise Industry Veteran Joni Rein Joins Scenic as VP of Sales & Marketing USA

Scenic has announced the appointment of cruise industry veteran Joni Rein as VP of sales & marketing USA. Rein will be responsible for overseeing the sales and marketing efforts in the US.

Rein comes to her new position with a litany of cruise experience, dating back 20 years, and a total of 33 years in the travel industry. Her most recent role as vp of worldwide sales for Carnival entailed numerous trade support initiatives: online educational tools, major agent portal upgrades, outreach programs, a dedicated trade engagement team and an industry-first agent rewards program. These programs were an extension of her earlier efforts as the vp of US field sales. Other executive positions include stints in sales, marketing and business development at Costa, Renaissance and Certified Tours.

The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa Welcomes New General Manager

Peter Roth Appointed As General Manager, Park Hyatt New York And Area Vice President, Luxury And Lifestyle Brands

Celebrated hospitality executive, Peter Roth, has been named area vice president luxury and lifestyle brands and general manager, Park Hyatt New York, the flagship hotel of the globally recognized Park Hyatt brand which opened August 2014.

Roth has a storied 10-year career with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, most recently working with Hyatt’s Corporate support team as Vice President of Operational Experiences for the Park, Andaz, Centric and Unbound Collection brands. Prior to joining Hyatt’s Corporate team, Roth served as General Manager, Park Hyatt Chicago following his tenure abroad as General Manager at Grand Hyatt Moscow and Grand Hyatt Santiago. Before joining Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, Roth began his career in luxury hospitality with several Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts properties across Berlin, Uruguay, Mexico and Chicago.

Mountain Travel Sobek Appoints Kimberly K. Daley As Chief Exective Officer And President

ASTA Welcomes Kim Sherrett, Announces Staff Promotions

The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) is pleased to announce several staffing changes that will strengthen its focus on membership development, high quality events, and communicating the value of travel agents.

Kim Sherrett joins ASTA as manager of membership and chapter development. In this role, Kim will leverage her experience to grow the ASTA membership and foster chapter development and growth. She brings to ASTA more than 20 years of industry experience, most recently as Manager, Business Development and Education at Nexion.

The Society is also announcing two internal staff promotions. Building on the strengths of the newly-combined ASTA and NACTA Business Development Team, Karen Morris has been promoted to director of meetings & events, where she will continue to execute both ASTA and NACTA’s repertoire of meetings and events and to support ASTA-NACTA business development activities.

With an eye toward ASTA’s mission to raise consumer awareness and promote the value of travel agents and the association to internal and external audiences, Erika Richter has been promoted to director of communications. In this role she will be responsible for the development and execution of the communications portion of ASTA’s mission to promote and defend ASTA member agents before the traveling public, at all levels of government and within the travel industry.

Omni Hotels & Resorts Promotes Barbara Doucet  

Barbara Doucet was promoted to vice president of human resources at Omni Hotels & Resorts. In this role, she will serve all Omni associates in facilitating organizational development, performance management and employee relations. Doucet has been with the Omni family for more than 10 years. She was previously the corporate director of human resources. Before joining Omni, she was the senior human resources representative at Target.

Dourcet received a bachelor’s degree in business from St. Edwards University in Austin.  She serves as a board member for the Dallas-based non-profit Women with Promise and holds two Senior Certified Human Resources Professional certifications (SPHR, SHRM-SCP).

Copperwynd Resort & Club Names Jeremy Dougherty General Manager

CopperWynd Resort & Club has named veteran Valley of the Sun hotel leader Jeremy Dougherty general manager.  The appointment is now effective.

Dougherty comes to CopperWynd from Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa where he was general manager.  Immediately before that, he was opening general manager at the Graduate Hotel Tempe.  Earlier in his career, Dougherty had worked at Sanctuary - as resort manager and, before that, revenue and reservations manager. He also had served as director of guest operations at Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale. An ultramarathoner, Dougherty often runs with Team Red White & Blue, an organization that enriches the lives of American veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity.
