Andy Kunz Appointed General Manager Of Point Yamu By Como In Phuket, Thailand

COMO Hotels and Resorts is pleased to announce Andy Kunz as general manager of their Phuket resort, Point Yamu by COMO. He will be responsible for all of the 106 rooms, suites and villas that make up the Paola Navone-designed property, located at the tip of secluded Cape Yamu on the island’s east coast. His remit will also cover COMO Shambhala Retreat at Point Yamu and the two restaurants — La Sirena and Nahmyaa — as well as the new private COMO Beach Club, situated on Naka Yai Island.

Stanton South Beach Appoints New Assistant General Manager

Stanton South Beach has announced Alexina Beauperthuy as the property’s new assistant general manager.

With more than 18 years of managerial experience in the hospitality industry, Beauperthuy began her career with the Marriott family as a manager in training at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay. In 1998, she then took on the role of assistant banquet manager at the Renaissance Chicago Oak Brook.  

During her 14-year span with the Chicago-based property, Alexina supervised the restaurant, room service and bar departments with leadership roles including assistant f&b manager, event manager, senior event manager, director of event planning and director of event planning and operations.

Mainsail Lodging & Development Names General Manager

Mainsail Lodging & Development announced today the appointment of Sandra Zinck as general manager for two of their Anna Maria Island properties — the 37 two-bedroom suite boutique hotel, Waterline Marina Resort & Beach Club scheduled to open Fall 2016, and Mainsail Beach Inn, an award-winning 12-unit luxury beachfront property. With nearly 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Zinck comes to Mainsail Lodging from D.P. Murphy Hotels & Resorts in Moncton, New Brunswick, where she worked for eight years.

JW Marriott Grand Rapids Welcomes Anna Fortier As The Director Of Event Management

AHC+Hospitality is pleased to announce the promotion of Anna Fortier as the new director of event management at the JW Marriott Grand Rapids. In her new role, she will develop strategic plans to build the hotel’s group business, promote and develop on-site event programming for meeting and event attendees.

As she pursues her new position as director of event management, Fortier hopes to increase group business and guest satisfaction by re-engaging attendees that have previously held events at the property. She also hopes to lead the property to achieve high-ranking event satisfaction goals among all JW Marriott properties in North America.

Fortier was awarded with the hotel’s High Performer of the Year Award for Catering and Events in 2014 and Leader of the Month in December 2014. Fortier began her career with the JW Marriott Grand Rapids in 2010 where she oversaw 50 individuals in the housekeeping department. She graduated from Grand Valley State University and now serves on the Hospitality and Tourism Management Alumni Advisory Board to help plan alumni events, including the annual gala.

MSC Cruises Names Brandon Townsley Director Of Online And Strategic Accounts

MSC Cruises announced today that Brandon Townsley has joined the cruise line as director of online and strategic accounts.

In this position, Townsley will be responsible for working with the nation’s largest Online Travel Agencies to develop strategic partnerships and marketing initiatives that help generate excitement about the cruise line’s future – which includes the introduction of seven new ultramodern ships as well as plans for significant growth in North America, specifically, with two ships – MSC Divina and MSC Seaside – based in Miami and doing year-round sailings to the Caribbean. 

Townsley joins MSC Cruises with more than 20 years in the cruise and travel industry. After beginning his career with Royal Caribbean in 1996, Townsley has spent the last several years at Norwegian Cruise Line holding leadership roles in the areas of revenue management, sales planning and analysis, field sales, charters, meetings and incentives and international sales.

Townsley holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University and a MBA from Florida Atlantic University. A native Floridian, Townsley currently resides in Miami Beach.

Sean Kennerty Appointed General Manager of Hilton Dallas/Park Cities 

Hilton Worldwide today announced the promotion of Sean Kennerty to the position of general manager of Hilton Dallas/Park Cities.  In this new position, Kennerty will oversee all day-to-day operations of the 224-guest room hotel and will report directly to area vice president Andy Slater.

Kennerty got his start with Hilton in 2004 as director of front office operations at Hilton Dallas Lincoln Centre.  Shortly thereafter, he was promoted to director of guest services at the legendary Hilton Anatole. During his nine-year tenure at Hilton Anatole, Kennerty held positions of increasing responsibility including senior event manager and director of rooms, a post he held since 2009. Kennerty began his career in hospitality in 1996 at the Westin Galleria in Dallas after studying Business Management at the University of North Texas.

TPI Announces Expanded Executive Team

Travel Planners International (TPI), one of the industry’s oldest and largest host agencies with nearly 3,000 independent travel agents nationwide, has announced several changes and an addition to its management staff.

Scott Radesi has joined TPI as director of business development. Radesi oversees TPI's preferred supplier partnerships, and he and his team establish and execute annual marketing plans to promote these partners to TPI's agents across the U.S. He brings many years of travel industry experience to the position, including five years as business development manager with The Mark Travel Corporation where he worked with many different agency business models. In this post he worked closely with TPI, one of his largest accounts, developing annual marketing plans to achieve year-over-year growth during his tenure. His career also includes two years with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment where he continued interacting with TPI, including attending the organization’s TPI Extravaganza conference.

Michelle Threadgill has been promoted to partner relations manager with TPI. She focuses primarily on developing and proposing annual marketing plans to TPI’s existing and prospective preferred partners, which includes various business development services, marketing tools, training, and support for TPI agents and their customers. Threadgill communicates with all preferred partners to ensure that the expectations and goals have been met and to facilitate win-win, long-term relationships. She has been a great asset to TPI in her most recent role as special events coordinator, managing the strategy, coordination, and execution of several major functions, including the organization’s flagship event, TPI Extravaganza.

In addition to managing existing partnerships, Radesi and Threadgill are also building new relationships to help maximize agent retention and recruitment for the organization.

Salone England has been promoted to director of business travel, responsible for negotiating and managing TPI’s corporate and business travel relationships with airlines, GDS providers, hotels, and car rental companies. In addition, she is responsible for recruiting corporate agents and smaller travel agencies to utilize the host agency’s array of services. This new post assures that TPI delivers on its mission to support the corporate- and business-travel focused agent. England’s most recent position with TPI was director of agent relations where she excelled at managing the strategy, coordination, and recruiting of all agents for TPI. She also effectively served as the organization’s director of operations. England’s professional background also includes more than 20 years’ experience as a corporate travel agent for Pricewaterhouse Cooper at American Express where she managed a 20-person group department.
