Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. Expands International Leadership Team
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. today announced three key appointments to the company’s international leadership team: Steve Odell, previously senior vice president and managing director for Australia & New Zealand, is now senior vice president and managing director for Asia Pacific, responsible for overseeing Australia, New Zealand, South Pacific, and Asia, including Japan, India, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan; David Herrera, previously with Prestige Cruise Holdings, has been appointed as senior vice president and managing director China; and Frank Medina, who joins the company as vice president and managing director for Latin America, overseeing Mexico, South and Central America and the Caribbean.
Odell brings a wealth of cruise industry experience earned over the past thirty years through pioneering activity in a variety of senior positions in the luxury sector. He played a key role in the establishment of the luxury cruise segment in Australasia since 2000, previously serving as Silversea’s President EMEA & Asia Pacific. He has also served as Chairman ICCA (now CLIA Australasia) between 2005 & 2007 and was a founding Board member of the Asia Cruise Association (now CLIA Asia).
Herrera previously served as senior advisor to the chairman and CEO of Prestige Cruise Holdings, where he led a group responsible for researching the Chinese cruise market for Oceania Cruises. David began his finance and investment career at Goldman, Sachs and Sanford C. Bernstein where he advised executives and families on all investment matters and was the founder of a private investment firm focused on dynamic and early stage growth opportunities similar to NCLH’s opportunity in the emerging China cruise market.
Medina brings more than 20 years of experience in the cruise sector, most recently having served as commercial director for key markets in North America for Celebrity Cruises, overseeing strategic planning and execution of sales and marketing initiatives across the brand’s top markets. He previously led the growth and development of Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises as the Director of Sales and Marketing for Latin America & Caribbean.
Aqua-Aston Hospitality Names Janice Wakatsuki Senior Vice President of Human Resources
Aqua-Aston Hospitality, a leading hotel and resort management group, has named Janice Wakatsuki senior vice president of human resources. She brings more than 30 years of experience to the position.
In her new role, Wakatsuki provides human resources leadership and strategy and is responsible for overseeing the administration employee and labor relations, compensation, benefits, and recruitment for the corporate office and the properties that Aqua-Aston Hospitality manages in Hawaii and the Mainland U.S.
Prior to joining Aqua-Aston Hospitality, Wakatsuki served as the corporate director of human resources for Outrigger Enterprises where she was responsible for the overall management of HR for the corporate office and 24 properties in Hawaii. She also held senior-level positions with Hawaii Health Systems and the Hyatt Regency in Honolulu. Wakatsuki received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Travel Industry Management from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Canyon Ranch Appoints Markus Iseli Managing Director
Canyon Ranch, the founding voice in holistic wellness for nearly 40 years, has appointed Markus Iseli ,anaging director for its inaugural international immersion resort, Canyon Ranch Wellness Resort at Kaplankaya, slated to open July 2016 as the anchor brand of an exclusive waterfront enclave on the south Aegean coast, near the city of Bodrum.
Iseli brings more than 30 years of international luxury hospitality experience to the brand, which chose the site in Turkey for its confluence of stunning landscape, rich history, and thousands of years of healing tradition. In his new role, Iseli will oversee all operations for the strikingly modern property, which will boast 141 sea-view guest rooms; a 107,500 square-foot Spa, Fitness and Wellness center; two gourmet, Mediterranean-inspired restaurants; and the luxury residential complex, Canyon Ranch Living. Iseli will be influential in further establishing Canyon Ranch internationally, and for shaping the guest experience at Kaplankaya to create a sought-after, year-round luxury travel destination.
Corinthia Hotels Appoint Eric Pere As New General Manager Of Corinthia Hotel Prague
Corinthia Hotels appoint Eric Pere as the new general manager of its landmark hotel in Prague. Formerly general manager of Corinthia hotels in Tripoli and St Petersburg, and bringing more than 30 years’ experience across the luxury hospitality industry, Eric will oversee Corinthia Hotel Prague as it continues to thrive among the city’s leading hotels. He takes over from Jonathan Pace, who has been appointed General Manager of Corinthia Hotel St Petersburg.
Pere, a French native, is an international hotelier through and through. He has worked his way up the rungs in the hospitality industry, starting as a Cost Controller & F&B Analyst in the 1980’s, and gradually progressing through a finance career path, arriving at his latest appointment as General Manager of the iconic Corinthia Prague.
