Sonesta Names Mark Quintero As Sonesta Es Suites Regional Director Of Operations
Sonesta announced that Mark Quintero has been named the new Sonesta ES Suites regional director of operations. In this role, Mark will be charged with communicating, executing and reinforcing the daily operational activities at each hotel in the eastern U.S. region.
Boasting an almost 30-year career in the hospitality management industry, Mark has spent the majority of his time working for Marriott International, where he served positions as assistant general manager and general manager at various locations across the United States. Prior to joining Sonesta ES Suites, Mark served as the regional director of operations for Holiday Retirement. He received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Oklahoma State University.
Loews Regency New York Hotel Appoints Mais As Managing Director
Loews Hotels & Resorts today announced Simon Mais as managing director of the Loews Regency New York Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. With over 20 years of hospitality experience, Mais will directly oversee all sales, marketing and operational aspects of Loews Regency, located on Park Avenue and 61st Street.
Mais spent the last five years at Northwood Hospitality Group, where he most recently served as the vice president of Asset Management. During his time there, he was responsible for ensuring the financial success of six marquee properties, including the Lotte New York Palace, The London West Hollywood, Cheeca Lodge & Spa, Naples Grande Beach Resort, Tranquility Bay Beachfront Hotel & Resort, and Parrot Key Resort.
Prior to working at Northwood Hospitality Group, Mais gained valuable experience in the role of general manager in different properties across the country. While at Revere Hotel in Boston, Mais repositioned the property into a Luxury Boutique Four Diamond Hotel. Additionally, he worked as general manager for two Morgans Hotel Group properties, the Clift Hotel in San Francisco and the Hudson Hotel in New York.
Pardue Appointed As General Manager, Park Hyatt New York And Area Vice President, Luxury And Lifestyle Brands
Mark Pardue has been named area vice president luxury and lifestyle brands and general manager of Park Hyatt New York, the flagship hotel of the globally recognized Park Hyatt brand which opened August 2014.
Pardue has a prestigious 27-year career with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, holding leadership positions in 10 premier Hyatt properties across nine cities, including the Stanhope Hotel, Hyatt’s iconic property on the Upper East Side prior to the structure’s conversion to luxury residences. Pardue most recently served as general manager at the Grand Hyatt New York where he led operations for the 1,306-key hotel since 2010.
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group Announces Two General Manager Appointments
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced the appointments of Martin Schnider as general manager of Mandarin Oriental, Doha, and Jill Goh as general manager of Mandarin Oriental, Macau. Both appointments are effective immediately.
Schnider joins the Doha property, which is scheduled to open in 2016, from Mandarin Oriental, Macau where he has held the position of general manager since 2008. Prior to this, Schnider was hotel manager of Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo.
Goh succeeds Schnider as general manager of Mandarin Oriental, Macau. Jill began her career with the group in Singapore in 1993, working her way up through the rooms division to become director of rooms in 2000, and eventually resident manager in 2006. Most recently, Jill was resident manager of Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London before taking on the role of corporate operations manager, Asia based in Hong Kong in 2013.
Small Luxury Hotels Of The World Appoints Boyen As Chief Executive Officer
Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), the champion of small, luxury, independent hotels, has announced Filip Boyen as its new chief executive officer effective immediately. Boyen who was appointed as managing director of Hill, Goodridge & Associates, SLH’s management company, in July of this year will now also assume leadership for the management of the SLH brand, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
Boyen, who originates from Belgium, has a long history within the hotel sector, most recently as chief operating officer & senior vice president at Belmond, a position he held for over six years. His 30 years in the hospitality industry have seen him rise through the ranks from the roots of the business. He began his career as Commis & Chef de Partie in Belgium, progressing to hotel management in destinations from Moscow to Tahiti, where he first joined Orient-Express Hotels, now Belmond.
Lindblad Expeditions Holdings, Inc. Adds McClain As Chief Financial Officer
Lindblad Expeditions Holdings, Inc. a global provider of expedition cruises and adventure travel experiences, announced today it has named John McClain as its chief financial officer. He will join Lindblad on Nov. 10, 2015. McClain brings a long history of leadership positions in a wide range of public companies, most recently serving as the chief financial officer of The Jones Group Inc. until its sale to Sycamore Partners in April 2014. Prior to Jones, he held senior positions at Avis Budget Group, Inc., Cendant Corporation, Sirius Satellite Radio Inc., ITT Corporation and Arthur Andersen & Co.
MacDiarmid Named General Manager of W Fort Lauderdale
W Fort Lauderdale is pleased to welcome Anna MacDiarmid, a 30+ year veteran of the Starwood brand, as the property’s new general manager. In her position, MacDiarmid will oversee all hotel services and staff development including maintaining guest satisfaction, profitability, and employee morale.
Most recently, MacDiarmid held the role of GM at the W New York, the first W Hotel to ever open its doors. However, her impressive career began in her hometown at The Westin Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada. She scaled the hotel management ladder at the 1,000+ room property, where she was eventually promoted to her first general manager position after mastering all areas of hotel operations, including the food & beverage, rooms, and sales departments.
With a strong passion for the hospitality industry, MacDiarmid then moved on to gain extensive experience as the general manager of three NY-based W hotels over the past 10 years, including: W Times Square in 2006, the W Hoboken in 2008, where she managed the property through its opening, and then at the original W, the W New York in 2011.

Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa has announced the appointment of Angela Vaughn as the resort’s new director of marketing. In her role, Vaughn will help grow visibility through public relation efforts, strengthen brand standards and implement innovative marketing strategies for all brands under the Hilton Sandestin umbrella — including Seagar’s Prime Steaks and Seafood; Serenity by the sea; Sandcastle’s Restaurant and Lounge; Hadashi Sushi Bar; and Barefoot’s Beachside Bar & Grill.
Vaughn joins Hilton Sandestin Beach with more than 12 years of experience in the marketing, public relations and advertising fields. Most recently, Vaughn worked as community & public relations coordinator for Visit South Walton (VSW). There, she led community outreach efforts, executed new social media programs, planned out-of-market brand activations, launched the Perfect in South Walton awards program and oversaw the South Walton Artist of the Year program.
Schafer Appointed As Area Vice President And General Manager Of Grand Hyatt New York
The iconic Grand Hyatt New York is pleased to announce the appointment of hotel veteran and New York native John Schafer as area vice president and general manager. In his new role, Schafer will manage all aspects of the hotel and its day-to-day operations.
A hospitality and Hyatt veteran, Schafer began his career with Hyatt Hotels Corporation more than 30 years ago and has served in ten different cities in large convention hotels. Prior to joining Grand Hyatt New York, Schafer most recently served as the vice president managing director of the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego, supervising the 1,625-room hotel on San Diego Bay.
Waldorf Astoria Chicago Appoints Poynder as General Manager
Hilton Worldwide is pleased to announce the appointment of Marlene Poynder as general manager at the Waldorf Astoria Chicago.
Poynder brings more than 20 years of experience to the role with her accomplished background in the hotel and tourism industry, holding various senior managerial positions in Australia, Asia, New Zealand and North America. Most recently, Poynder was general manager of the Waldorf Astoria Beijing where she led the opening of the iconic property. Prior to her role at Waldorf Astoria Beijing, Poynder joined the China Hotel Operations team and spent three months as general manager at the Conrad and Hilton Hotels Dalian in North China.
