Europe Express Adds Three Industry Veterans to Its Sales Team
Europe Express is continuing to grow, and its relationship with the travel advisor community is growing as well.
Over the past five years, Kier Matthews, Europe Express’ vice president of sales, has reached out to travel agents, assessed their needs, and acted on their feedback.
When Europe Express needed to be more accessible to the travel advisor community around the United States, Matthews found seasoned sales account manager Ed Jones to service travel agents on the East Coast. Now, Europe Express is excited to announce that they have added three more additions to their sales team.
This will ensure that each travel agent has a dedicated resource available in their time zone to answer questions and to support them in serving their clients.
Meredith Harrell began her role on July 6, 2015 and is based in Texas, while Aimee Graham began on Aug. 3, 2015 and is based out of California. Additionally, Garrett Landry has joined the team as Inside Sales Specialist.
Harrell and Graham, as new members of the team, are excited to continue to build relationships and share their passion with travel agent partners. Garrett transitioned to the sales team from the Europe Express marketing department on Sept. 1, 2015.
W San Francisco Appoints Sara Hamza as W Insider
W San Francisco has announced the appointment of Sara Hamza as the hotel’s new W Insider, a position created to help elevate the guest experience at the luxury SoMa hotel. As W Insider, Hamza promotes the hotel’s signature Whatever/Whenever service by providing loyal guests with extraordinary, unexpected, and unforgettable experiences not offered anywhere else.
Prior to joining W San Francisco, Hamza, a native of Nashville, Tennessee, studied abroad in the United Arab Emirates at the American University of Sharjah, where she studied International Studies and Arabic. From there, Hamza worked in the hospitality and beverage industries, expanding her love for cocktail culture and passion for customer service, which she uses to connect with guests of diverse backgrounds.
David Kuperberg Appointed Chief Development Officer at Début Hotel Group and Hampshire Hotels Management
Début Hotel Group and Hampshire Hotels Management has announced that David Kuperberg has been tapped to lead the development efforts for the company’s lifestyle brands including Dream Hotels, Time Hotels, Night Hotels, Augustus Hotels and Resorts and Unscripted Hotels.
Kuperberg has been working with the Company since April 2013 and has been integral to the growth of its domestic and international pipeline, including the much-anticipated and soon-to-open Dream Hollywood hotel. Prior to joining the Company, Kuperberg held a variety of roles with Virgin Hotels and Wyndham Worldwide. At Virgin, he was the head of development, charged with leading the business’ global expansion. At Wyndham, he served as vice president of development and strategy as well as senior director of mergers and acquisitions.
Pamela Feick Named Director Of Sales And Marketing Of The Hôtel Plaza Athénée New York
Hôtel Plaza Athénée New York has announced the appointment of Pamela Feick as Director of Sales and Marketing of the Hôtel Plaza Athénée, a 144-room luxury hotel located at 37 East 64th Street on Manhattan’s Upper Eastside. Feick will direct and oversee the hotel’s sales, marketing, public relations and social media teams and be responsible for spearheading the relaunch of the hotel as it embarks upon a renovation scheduled for completion in October 2016.
A seasoned professional, Feick has more than 20 years hotel sales and marketing experience. Most recently, she was the director of sales and marketing for The Chatwal, a Luxury Collection Hotel in New York. Prior to this she was the regional director of industry relations for JG Black Book of Travel. She also held the position of director of sales and marketing at The Pierre New York and was responsible for relaunching the hotel as a Taj Hotel in 2009.
Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach Welcomes Amaury Piedra As New General Manager
Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach has announced the appointment of Amaury Piedra as general manager. In this role, Piedra will be responsible for the hotel’s overall success through the management of staff and day-to-day hotel operations.
Piedra, who has nearly 20 years of luxury hospitality experience, has held managerial positions at AAA Four Diamond-rated lifestyle hotels, convention hotels of more than 1,000 rooms and multi-unit oceanfront resorts throughout the U.S. and the Caribbean. He joins Shelborne Wyndham Grand from his previous role as complex general manager for Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort & Spa and Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel.
Previously, Piedra served as general manager at W South Beach. He has also served as resort manager for Westin Hotels & Resorts and Sheraton Hotels at Our Lucaya in Grand Bahamas Island. Additionally, Piedra was previously the Chairperson for Fort Lauderdale Beach Business Improvement District, and formed part of the Marketing Committee for Broward Convention and Visitor Bureau.
Destination Queenstown appoints Business Development Manager for Study Queenstown
Destination Queenstown (DQ) is pleased to announce the appointment of Aaron Halstead to the position of business development manager, Study Queenstown.
Halstead has a strong sales and operational background and is currently based in Melbourne where he works as the client strategy manager for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Prior to this, Halstead and his family were based in Queenstown, where he held senior roles with NZSki, Quark Expeditions (Antarctica) and Alpine Safety Auditors.
David Weidlich Appointed Vice President Of Operations, Eastern Region, By Loews Hotels & Resorts
Loews Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of David Weidlich as vice president of operations for the portfolio's Eastern Region. A seasoned hotel operator with more than 25 years of domestic and international experience, Weidlich oversees all aspects of operations for six Loews properties including Loews Madison Hotel, Loews Annapolis Hotel, Loews Philadelphia Hotel, Loews Miami Beach Hotel, Loews Boston Hotel, and Loews Regency New York.
Weidlich joined Loews Hotels & Resorts from Club Quarters where he served as vice president, Global Hotel Operations and directed 17 properties in major U.S. markets and London.
Born and raised in Cedar Grove, New Jersey, Weidlich earned a Bachelor of Science degree in hotel administration from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In his downtime, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.
Debra Klemm Appointed Director Of Sales And Marketing Of The Langford Boutique Hotel
The 126-guest room Langford Hotel, the newest hotel to come to downtown Miami, owned and developed by Stambul and managed by Trust Hospitality, the leader in hospitality management, has named veteran hospitality executive Debra Klemm as director of sales and marketing. In her new position, Klemm will be responsible for the hotel’s overall marketing and sales initiatives. Klemm brings with her more than 20 plus years of experience in the hospitality industry, making her an asset to the hotel, which is poised to bring style and sophistication to the city’s hotel scene.
Prior to joining The Langford, Klemm owned her own hospitality company called DLK Hospitality and Consulting. She also worked as director of sales & marketing for various prestigious hotel companies and hoteliers, such as the Delano, The Shore Club under Ian Schrager, The Raleigh, The Standard under Andre Balazs Properties Miami and Island Outpost Hotels to name a few. Klemm attended the University of Miami where she focused on course work in Business Administration and Liberal Arts. She also studied languages and luxury hospitality in Germany.
Kimpton’s Hotel Solamar Appoints Shannon Foster as General Manager
Kimpton’s Hotel Solamar has announced the appointment of Shannon Foster as general manager. Foster joined the team in June and is responsible for day-to-day hotel operations, guest relations and business development for the 235-room stylish boutique hotel, including event space, the famed Jsix Restaurant and LOUNGEsix rooftop bar.
A seasoned industry leader, Foster comes to Hotel Solamar from Kimpton’s Hotel La Jolla, where she spent three years as a general manager. Prior to relocating to San Diego in 2012, Foster spent five years managing operations at Hotels Monaco Chicago and Salt Lake City—both part of the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants collection. She started her hospitality career as a director of operations for Sage Hospitality Resources.
