Abercrombie & Kent will return to Nepal in September for the first time since the devastating earthquake that hit the region earlier this year. The luxury adventure tour operator is also introducing 12 new programs to its lineup for 2016.

A&K’s Nepal program, called “Bhutan and Nepal: Heart of Himalaya,” was discontinued after the earthquake, but the company is now ready to put it back into operation.

“After careful consideration and an exploratory trip that allowed us to determine the safety and level of standards available, we made some adjustments to our current itinerary and are happy to say that A&K will be returning to Nepal this fall,” said A&K president, Phil Otterson. “We have seen the positive effects tourism has had in helping communities rebuild after natural disasters and look forward to once again introducing travelers to this beautiful country and its people.”

In addition, the operator is introducing 12 new programs in its Luxury Small Group Journeys series, including new programs in Europe, South America and North America.

Luxury Small Group Journeys are defined as intimate groups with a maximum of 18 members per group.

New programs for 2016:

The Great Migration Safari in Style, centered on observing wildlife in the great game reserves in Tanzania and Kenya, such as Amboseli, Tarangire and Serengeti National Parks, Ngorongoro Crater and the Masaai Mara. The 14-day program is priced from $13,995.

Patagonia: The Last Wilderness explores the southern tip of South America and includes opportunities for activities such as mountain biking in Torres del Paine National Park, sailing through the Beagle Channel, visiting a working ranch in El Calafate, hiking on Perito Moreno Glacier, a cruise of the Icebergs Channel, horseback riding, kayaking and trekking. It’s an 11-day trip priced from $8,795.

Spain and Portugal: A Journey Across Iberia includes the cultural treasures of the Prado Museum in Madrid, the Frank Gehry-designed Hotel Marqués de Riscal as well as Gehry’s Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. It also includes time in Lisbon and Toledo. The 14-day trip is priced from $9,395.

Wonders of Chile and Argentina explores the Alpine region of Bariloche to Iguazu Falls and includes a tango lesson in Buenos Aires and a stop in at a family-run vineyard in Chile (seen from both the Argentine and Brazilian sides). The 11-day trip is priced from $8,295.

Scotland: Edinburgh and the Highlands includes time exploring Edinburgh, a visit to Stirling Castle, and a tour of Glasgow. The nine-day trip is priced from $6,595.

America’s National Parks: The Southwest includes rafting on the Colorado River and riding horseback through Bryce Canyon and going to Grand Canyon National Park, Arches, Canyonlands and Zion National Parks. The 11-day program is priced from $8,595

Classic China: Beijing, Xian and Shanghai is an attempt to put as much of the essential experiences of China into a short, nine-day trip. It includes the Great Wall, the Terra Cotta Warriors at Xian and Shanghai’s Bund. The nine-day trip is priced from $4,795.

A&K is also offering two new programs in its Family Journeys series, which incorporate child-friendly hotels and a Young Explorers Guide in charge of leading the young participants in engaging activities. The new family programs for A&K 206 are “Family Australia” and “Family Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons.”
