andBeyond, which defines itself as a luxury experiential travel company, has opened up tour operations in Latin America.
The company will open an office in Santiago, Chile, July 15, from which point it will begin to offer destination management services in Chile. By mid-August it plans to be operating in Argentina.
The operator will offer travel arrangements for Iguazu Falls, Easter Island, the wine regions of Chile, Atacama desert, Buenos Aires and Patagonia.
By the middle of next year &Beyond will expand its South American operations into Peru and Ecuador with programs for Machu Picchu, the Amazon and the Galapagos.
The company’s Latin American team will be led by Pedro Barraza, a travel industry veteran of 25 years, including 14 in upper management roles in South America.
andBeyond, which was founded in 1991 as Conservation Corporation Africa and later CCAfrica, was previously known primarily for its operations in Africa and India. Its first base of operations was in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa.
As its original name implies, it was founded with the intention of being a force for conservation. The model was based on developing wildlife sanctuaries and opening them to visits from high-end travelers with an interest in not only enjoying but preserving the wilderness areas of Africa and India.
The company was built on a model of sustainability, designed to funnel resources from tourism into helping to support not only the natural environment, but also the communities of people who live in the areas and to help them find ways of sustaining their lifestyles without having to engage in practices that are destructive to the wildlife and the environments of the wilderness areas.
