Contiki Aims to Make Travel Legendary
Great travel leads to great stories that have the potential to turn into great legends. They are stories that stay with you for a lifetime; the tales that you share with your family and friends, your children and grandchildren. They are the journeys that inspire your life.
Tour operator Contiki has designed its Contiki Legends to help inspire millennial travelers to create these unforgettable journeys and help them take their travel dreams and make them into a reality.
Over the last two years, the company has partnered with some of the world’s most legendary content creators and, together with daredevil stunt men, infamous pranksters, badass dancers and famous faces, they have been on a mission to create some of the best travel stories of all time.
The Contiki Legends campaign began in 2014, with a video narrating one travelers’ personal story about being led around an Italian City by a woman who was nearly blind. The story is told by Game of Thrones actress Natalie Dormer and demonstrates how a simple experience in an unfamiliar place can turn into a story that will be told for a generation.
This year, Contiki went even farther and helped lucky dreamers make their travel legends come true, like Matt from Australia’s dream. He wanted to swim in the Mediterranean, so Contiki helped him take that experience to the next level.
So that travelers can be inspired to create their own legendary stories, Contiki has put together a Contiki Legends section of its website, a variety of YouTube videos and the stories of its travelers as well as a list of suggested itineraries that can help its customers build their own memorable trips.
For example, the Simply Italy trip is a 12-day, In-Depth Explorer itinerary that visits Rome, Serrento, Capri, Florence, Venice, Milan, La Spezia, Pisa and Vatican City. The tour is the only one of Contiki’s journeys that stops in La Spezia in the Cinque Terre and Milan, the fashion capital of Italy. And if that’s not enough, guests can reenact the balcony scene from “Romeo & Juliet” in fair Verona – talk about creating a legend.
Contiki Legends also includes itineraries in France, for those who would like to live like a king in a French chateau, as well as experiences in the Greek Isles, for those who want to know how the other half (or most likely 1 percent) lives on the Greek Isles. Travelers will also find adventures in the snow-capped mountains of Switzerland or itineraries to a place where icons have been immortalized for ages – hello, London.
Ultimately, Contiki Legends is aimed at inspiring the travelers of today’s Millennial generation and those travelers of tomorrow and the generations beyond.
