Did you know that you can camp with Contiki for 47 days? Now that is a great way to stretch your budget and see Europe. The 47-day Big Chill camping itinerary is one of several options that millennials can choose from when booking with Contiki, a company that offers tour specifically for travelers under the age of 35.
Contiki’s camping trips aren’t exactly roughing it but travelers definitely will have the unique experience of sleeping under the stars as they travel through Europe. Included are two-man tents as well as the “tent to myself” option for those who need extra legroom. Onboard the motorcoaches used for touring, there is air conditioning, power points, Wi-Fi access, movies and a “killer” sound system. A team of trip managers and drivers are there to guide each guest through the experience as well as local guides who provide their unique perspective in each destination.
Camping trips keep prices down by including fewer meals and more personal time, ME time, to explore each destination on your own – imagine yourself discovering a secret café on a narrow cobblestone street, shopping in an open-air market for food to make dinner or engaging with the locals at a hidden watering hole. Guests can also upgrade their experience with optional hostel stays on certain nights.
The Big Chill is 47 days and includes France, Spain, Monaco, Italy, Vatican City, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro (in transit), Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina (in transit), Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium (in transit) – almost leaving no stone unturned when it comes to visiting Europe.
Shorter trips such as the Southern Escape (11 days) and the Northern Escape (14 days) are both new and feature between four and five European countries. The southern route includes four countries and begins in the French capital (Paris) where guests start out their trip with indulgence, enjoying champagne and escargot. Then it is off to a more natural experience in the Swiss Alps – but you haven’t said goodbye to a life of luxury forever. The trip winds up in the French Riviera and Italy, ending up in Rome after a visit to Florence.
The Northern Escape tackles five countries, including Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany and the Netherlands. Guests will see the Bridge of Sighs, the Doge’s Palace, St. Mark’s Square, Venice’s iconic canals, four World Heritage Sites, the Austrian countryside, the cutting-edge city of Berlin, trendy Amsterdam and more.
Other options to camp with Contiki include the 24-day Outdoor Escape, which includes eight countries; the 22-day Southern Trail, which visits five countries; and the Northern Trek, visiting 12 countries in 26 days.
To get a jump on 2016 dates and even more savings, Contiki is offering a discount of 10 percent on Europe trips for next year.
