Delta Vacations Offers Apartment Rentals in New York City
With Delta Vacations’ business in New York City up in double digits over last year, the vacation packaging unit of Delta Air Lines is adding a new angle to its New York package product line: apartment rentals.
Delta Vacations added three new apartments to its New York City portfolio: the 888 Apartments on Sixth Avenue at Herald Square, Kimberly Apartments on East 50th Street in Midtown, and the Madison Avenue Apartments on 38th Street.
The apartments are being procured through an arrangement with North American Vacation Homes, a company based in the U.K.
The apartments are classified as “self-catering.” They are furnished and have kitchens. They are located in Midtown Manhattan in proximity to Times Square, Central Park, the Theater District, and the whole cluster of attractions in mid-Manhattan.
With the new apartment offerings, Delta Vacations is targeting families and small groups, as well as keeping up on the marketplace trend toward apartment and villa rentals.
They also hold some appeal for some travelers who may find the Airbnb option attractive, but prefer to stick with a known traditional brand.
The one- or two-bedroom apartments offer several advantages over the more conventional hotel model of accommodation.
The most obvious advantage is more space. For small groups there are cost-sharing advantages. Kitchens create a wider range of affordable dining possibilities.
The apartment options also play into the trend of travelers wanting to immerse themselves in destinations and experience living like the locals.
