WHY IT RATES: Not only will travelers see the varied locales with these guided tours, such signature Globus programs as “Local Favorites” provide deep immersion into other cultures. -Michael Isenbek, TravelPulse Senior Editor

It’s not just time to stop and smell the roses… It’s time to clench a rose between your teeth and slink across a Buenos Aires dance floor or soar above fragrant and colorful orchids on a rainforest canopy tour.

South and Central America as well as Mexico satisfy the foodie, adventurer, the naturalist and the historian in all of us. The Globus family of brands has unveiled more than 50 adventures to these special destinations, including six new tours to Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica and Mexico.

And with Globus’ Local Favorites like learning how to make traditional Argentinean empanadas and spending time on a family-owned farm in Costa Rica to partaking in a Mother Earth Ceremony performed by a local shaman in Peru, these vacations invite travelers to say “adios” to the ordinary.

New South American itineraries for 2017 include:

Brazilian Getaway

A seven-day getaway featuring Rio de Janeiro and Iguassu Falls. Local Favorite experiences include a Samba lesson and Cachaca tasting. Priced from $2,469.

Vineyards of South America

This 11-day, panoramic tour takes travelers from Argentina to Chile, including a plethora of time in Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Santiago and Santa Cruz, including excursions to Uco and Colchagua valleys. Local Favorites include a cooking class, blending wine experience, dinner at Francis Mallmann’s 1884 Restaurante and a visit to La Vega Central Market. Priced from $4,479.

Mexico’s Copper Canyon

A 10-day tour through Mexican’s Copper Canyon features experiences in San Carlos, El Fuerte, Ceracahui, Urique Canyon, Pasada Barrancas and Nuevo Casas Grandes, including a trip aboard the Chihuahua al Pacifico Railroad (“National Geographic” calls it an engineering marvel). Priced from $1,909.

The Wonders of Mexico’s Yucatan

This eight-day tour from the Caribbean Sea to the Gulf of Mexico features experiences in Valladolid, Chichen Itza, Ek’Balam, Rio Lagartos, Merida, Becal, Campeche and Uxmal including such Local Favorites as visiting a Panama Hat maker and partaking in a Mayan cooking demonstration. Priced from $1,899.

New vacations being introduced by Cosmos include an eight-day Costa Rica Escape and 11-day Best of Brazil tour. Other popular Globus “Take A Break” vacations in South America include an eight-day Peru Splendors and nine-day Costa Rica Explorer.  The tour company’s most sought-after Panorama vacation is the nine-day South American Escape.

“Boasting some of the world’s best cuisine, intriguing history and beautiful landscapes, South America is an incredible destination to see and explore,” said Scott Nisbet, president and CEO of the Globus family of brands. “Our version of ‘touring’ makes it even more extraordinary: It’s rum and rumba, rivers and rainforests, ranchos and ruins. Great adventures await those ready to experience everything South America has to offer.”
