WHY IT RATES: These vacations put the exotic and unique aspects of the region in travelers’ laps, but without sacrificing creature comforts — making them good introductory journeys, in addition to appealing to veterans of South Pacific and Hawaii trips. -Michael Isenbek, TravelPulse Senior Editor

After years of following the straight and narrow path, it’s time for a little adventure. Time to follow the red dirt road to Australia’s rugged Outback, the rising steam to New Zealand’s bubbling mud pools and the sandy trails of Hawaii’s breezy beaches.

The fascinating cities, landscapes and wonders of the South Pacific and Hawaii are waiting for travelers to throw caution to the wind (and a boomerang in the bush). And, in 2017, Globus is dreaming big and traveling big with tours that feature unexpected surprises in such exotic destinations as Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Hawaii.

“Our travelers have the freedom they’ve never had before — freedom to watch the sun rise over Ayers Rock on the back of a camel; freedom to cruise the Kakadu wetlands in search of crocodiles and freedom to hop the legendary Ghan train, ushering them from the inspiring landscape’s of Oz’s Red Center to the tropical haven of the Top End,” said Scott Nisbet, president and chief executive officer of the Globus family of brands.  “They even have the freedom to completely relax as every detail of the journey — from hotels to kangaroo meet-and-greets — has been meticulously planned.”

Ranging from 10 to 13 days, Globus’ Hawaii vacations invite travelers to get inside, hands-on and behind-the-scenes with such Local Favorites as tasting Hawaii’s world-famous sweetbread at Punalu’u Bake Shop to visiting a working coffee and macadamia nut farm. With vacations that last two weeks to 27 days, the tour operator’s South Pacific journeys also feature dozens of Local Favorites activities including dining on a historic tramcar as it winds through Melbourne’s streets and enjoying a campfire in the Outback to exploring Katherine Gorge by canoe and experiencing a Dreamtime Walk with a member of an indigenous tribe.

And, for those travelers interested in a packaged vacation, without the group, Globus’ sister brand, Monograms, is providing them the chance to explore these exotic destinations with itineraries ranging from 4 to 15 days, including the new Sydney or Auckland Getaways to a nine-day vacation featuring the Great Barrier Reef and Sydney.

To further entice travelers to experience all these exotic destinations have to offer, Globus is offering South Pacific travelers the chance to save up to $842 a couple. For details, click here.
