The mysterious lost city of Machu Picchu is included on the Insight itinerary (photo by David Cogswell)
Insight Vacations is expanding into South America for the first time with a new tour of Peru called Treasures of the Incas.
The new Peru tour is an 11-night program that begins in the coastal capital city of Lima, with an emphasis on culinary exploration, then flies into the Andes to the ancient Inca city of Cusco to explore the historical remains of both the Inca and Spanish empires in the region, and visits the lost city of Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca, a body of water at an especially high elevation.
The trip also includes opportunities to meet with locals along the way, such as Nilda Callañaupa Alvarez, a Quechua weaver and scholar in Cusco.
To promote the launch, Insight is giving an $800-per-person early payment discount and air savings on bookings made by July 31.
