South Africa Tourism has partnered with the National Geographic Channel on a video tour of South Africa by photojournalist Pablo Corral Vega, tracing the life of Nelson Mandela.

The campaign will launch April 15 on the National Geographic Channel and the program will be aired on National Geographic Channel markets to an estimated audience of 300 million.

It’s part of NGC’s “Through the Lens” series, which focuses on vignettes by top NatGeo photographers, such as David Doubilet, Stephen Alvarez, Joel Sartore and Mattias Klum.

The portrayal of the life of Nelson Mandela begins in Qunu in the Eastern Cape, the setting of Mandela’s early childhood, and where he worked tending herds as a cattle boy.

The cinematic journey follows a trail that includes many of the monuments, historic sites and landmarks of significant points in Mandela’s long journey.
