Intrepid Travel has just announced a new range of tours that is for solo travelers only.
With half of Intrepid's 150,000 travelers already going alone, this move makes sense. Already in 2017, the number of solo trip bookings at the company has grown by 24 percent while solo travel has increased 40 percent over the last five years.
It's not surprising that so many people are traveling alone; There are many benefits to taking a solo journey.
A recent survey commissioned by Intrepid and conducted by OnePoll found that 4 in 10 travelers had traveled on their own and 75 percent feel it is now more acceptable. Those who do travel solo are more likely to try new things, visit bucket list destinations and make new friends around the world.
While the reasons that drive solo travelers vary, most prefer going alone so that they won't be pressured into doing things they don't want to. Solo travelers also feel it is more relaxing to be on their own, making it easier to meet people and learn new things.
Traveling alone is also the only option for those whose friends can't get time off.
Being by yourself may seem like a good option, but many travelers say they would feel more comfortable if they could be alone together. The survey found that 65 percent of solo travelers said they feel more comfortable traveling abroad alone with a tour group, and 60 percent said they'd feel better if they had a local tour guide.

Intrepid has stepped in to make this a reality.
Now, single travelers with Intrepid will have a variety of trips that cater just to them. In 2018, there are six new solo-only tours, including:
-Beautiful Bali-For Solo Travelers: A nine-day adventure that conquers the slopes of Mount Batur, explores Bali Barat National Park's underwater world, offers peaceful moments in Pura Ulun Danu Bratan and more.
-Best of Morocco-For Solo Travelers: 15-day journey starting in the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, visiting the Sahara Desert, stopping in Fes and finishing in Marrakech.
-Golden Triangle-For Solo Travelers: Stops in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Also includes a homestay during an eight-day journey through India.
-Vietnam Express Southbound-For Solo Travelers: From Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City on a 10-day trip that includes riding on a motorbike through the imperial capital of Hue.
-Mexico Real Food Adventure-For Solo Travelers: Explores Mexico's distinctive-and delicious-cuisine while Oaxaca, Puebla, Mazunte and Mexico City.
-Classic Peru-For Solo Travelers: Trek into the Andes Mountains to retrace the steps of the Inca on a nine-day journey.
