It’s time for Quark Expeditions to step on up to take a bow, because the company has been recognized by no less thatn Travel + Leisure as one of the best small-ship ocean cruise lines in the World’s Best Awards 2016.

Coming in at No. 2 in the small-ship cruise line category is that intrepid line that scours the beauty and wonder of the polar region.

As noted, the category goes to those lines that carry 249 passengers or less. And it’s that specific reason Quark Expeditions resonated so well with its travelers. As a press release suggests, those big, bad behemoths of the open sea can’t wiggle their way into some of the more intriguing areas that Quark plies.

President of Quark Expeditions, Andrew White, beamed after the announcement: “We’re honored to be recognized in the T+L World’s Best Awards. Our goal at Quark is to provide intimate, high-quality adventure travel experiences, which focus on passenger comfort, enrichment, and safety. Being recognized in this way is a big feather in the cap for all of us at Quark.”

T + L unveiled its results on its website, giving the No. 1 spot to Australis with a score of 96.16. Quark Expeditions just missed out with a score of 93.96.

On that particular line, T + L has this to say: “Australis has just one ship—the 210-passenger Stella Australis—but oh, the places it goes. One seven-night voyage from Ushuaia, Argentina, sails much of the same route as Charles Darwin's HMS Beagle through the Fuegian Archipelago.”

Now this is the first appearance on the list for Quark Expeditions, but it has been in operation since 1991.

If you are wondering if the exotic nature of a polar excursion is for you, the line offers this awesome 360-degree video.

And you will get to your destination in immense style:

With belly full and interest piqued you can step out into the polar beyond thanks to one of the best small-ship cruise lines in the world.
