SLIDESHOW: G Adventures' Amazing New 'Lando' Cruiser

Adventure travel company G Adventures has announced the introduction of a new fleet of customized overland adventure vehicles (OAV) designed for during its Yolo Africa tours.

The first OAV will be introduced later this month, while the remainder of the fleet will be operational by July. In total, there will be 10 vehicles, dubbed “Landos.”

The OAVs will carry G Adventures passengers on 22 different itineraries geared toward younger travelers (18-39 years old) who purchase eligible Yolo Africa tours. The vehicles have been designed using tour guide and traveler feedback, as well insight from the G Africa team.

“Our travelers have become more sophisticated and their needs have changed,” G Adventures Vice President Jeff Russill said in a statement. “We no longer accept that the old vehicles suit modern-day adventure travelers, and in our bid to lead with service have come up with a solution to bring overland travel into a new age.”

The Landos are built to be safe and sturdy. With a full steel body, heavy-duty steel bumpers, large windows for emergency exits and a rear-mounted camera, the vehicles have the ability to traverse the African landscape safely.

While the OAVs will be safe and sturdy, they will also be comfortable. Seating 22 passengers, the vehicles will include full-body seatbelts, a 66 gallon drinking water tank, onboard Wi-Fi, USB chargers at every seat, onboard safes for valuables, large front windows for better views of wildlife and windows designed specifically for photography.
