United States Tour Operators Association president and CEO Terry Dale confirmed the organization's newest active member Tuesday, announcing the inclusion of smarTours.
The tour operator, which takes travelers to six of the seven continents, specializes in group tours to oftentimes exotic destinations, including the Galapagos and Patagonia, among others.
The addition brings the USTOA's current total of active members to 54, with those members representing close to 160 different brands.
"SmarTours' passion and commitment to providing U.S. travelers with affordable and impactful foreign travel experiences are closely aligned with our association values," said Dale in a statement. "With two young and savvy co-CEOs at the company's helm, we are confident they will be an invaluable addition to our respected membership and delighted that they see the potential in the industry and USTOA."
SmarTours co-CEO Greg Geronemus echoed Dale's sentiments in a statement of his own:
"The team here at smarTours is thrilled to be joining USTOA. We have long admired the role that USTOA plays in our industry, and as we celebrate our 20th year and surpassing 150,000 travelers, we thought there was no better time to join the ranks of the esteemed USTOA members."
Founded in 1996, smarTours credits its "value, tour guides, price protection and focus" with its success over the past two decades, states the company's official website.
