Leading small-group adventure tour operator G Adventures and luxury and experiential travel network Virtuoso announce the launch of a new partnership that establishes G Adventures as one of the network’s newest Preferred Suppliers.
This marks the first time that Canada-based G Adventures has entered into an agreement with Virtuoso, one of the most well-known and respected travel groups in the world.
The by-invitation-only organization is comprised of over 375 agency members and more than 9,800 elite travel advisors in over 30 countries throughout North America, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
With 110,000 travelers a year and nearly 700 different itineraries available to more than 100 countries, G Adventures’ full portfolio of products immediately becomes available for Virtuoso agencies to market and sell. That includes 70 new and specially curated National Geographic Journeys with G Adventures tours, which range from seven to 21 days and go on sale Dec. 15, with departures beginning early in 2016.
G Adventures founder Bruce Poon Tip is optimistic about the potential of the new relationship with Virtuoso.
“Virtuoso is undoubtedly one of the most successful and prestigious travel brands operating today and is a vital next partner for G Adventures as we work to attract new customers to our special style of travel that helps travelers make a positive social impact while having life-changing fun,” he said.
Being a Preferred Supplier offers G Adventures new distribution channels in the United States, as well as in other mutually important regions where Virtuoso operates, including Europe, Australia and Canada.
The small group adventure tour operator recently opened a new hub in Boston, Massachusetts and is actively investing in growing its business in the United States. In just the past five years, the U.S. has become the operator’s third largest market globally and delivered 32 percent growth in sales in 2015. That’s due, in large part, to female travelers booking adventure travel through partner travel agencies that recommend G Adventures.
Benjamin Perlo, Managing Director of the U.S. for G Adventures, emphasized the increased access to agencies that the operator will gain, thanks to Virtuoso’s influential network.
“There’s no question that the travel agent and travel agency continue to be significant drivers of business to G Adventures and, therefore, vital to our continued growth,” Perlo said. “That’s particularly true in the United States, where we are working to build greater brand awareness among prospective travelers.”
Perlo added, “We are thrilled to welcome Virtuoso agencies to our growing circle of partners here and very much look forward to working with their proven advisors to inspire travelers to dream bigger, go further and travel responsibly.”
“Adventure travel is a growing area of interest for Virtuoso travel advisors and their clients,” said Cece Drummond, managing director of Destinations & Experiences for Virtuoso.
“The Virtuoso Luxe Report also shows they’re passionate about new destinations and authentic experiences. The products G Adventures brings to the network are a wonderful fit with our clients’ travel preferences, especially Millennials. Those offerings just expanded with National Geographic Journeys with G Adventures – an exciting new option from two of Virtuoso’s preferred tour operators.”
