You may not have access to a time machine, but there's a tour of historic hotels that just might be the next best thing.
By arranging a series of stays at some of America's most enduring and pedigreed hotels, Collette gives you a glimpse into what life was like during some of the most important eras in our nation's history.
Sure, anyone can read a bunch of history books, but this is like seeing history come to life. You won't just be learning about things from the past-you'll be immersed into the actual environment, making you feel as if you are personally experiencing life in those times.
This 10-day tour is like a journey through our country's evolution, as experienced by accommodations designed to recreate the authentic living environment of a time period from the past. You will tour grand hotels in the eastern United States, with some interesting excursions along the way.
It's fitting that your tour would begin in our nation's capital. You start out in Washington. D.C. where you will spend the night at the Omni Shoreham, which has hosted many VIPs and celebrities ranging from Judy Garland to The Beatles. The next day, after a guided tour of the city's monuments and attractions, you will spend two nights at the 250-year-old Omni Homestead Resort.

Next, it's off to Pennsylvania, where the 200-year-old Omni Bedford Springs Resort offers eight mineral springs on the property. Dinner will be hosted in a historic tavern that was established in the 1700s.
From there, you will head to the picturesque Hudson Valley in New York (after a stop at the charming town of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania). You will have the chance to visit the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum, where you can hear fascinating stories about the former president and his family.
You'll then head north, and among the notable stops along the way is Saratoga Springs, home to the famous racetrack. Upon arriving in Vermont, you'll have the chance to check out Hildene, the Lincoln Family Home. This was the home of Robert Todd Lincoln, the only child of Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln to survive to adulthood. You will stay at the Equinox Resort & Spa in the quaint Vermont town of Manchester.
While in Vermont, you will also venture into the towns of Woodstock and Windsor. Highlights of this part of your journey include a visit to a working dairy farm, where you can learn about the state's agricultural history and 19th century farming methods. You will also have the chance to stroll through some of the most quintessential New England villages, with their tree-lined streets and covered bridges.
Your tour ends in Boston, which of course is packed with countless historical landmarks and attractions. Stops on your sightseeing tour will include Old South Meeting House, Public Gardens, Old North Church and Beacon Hill.
Along the way in your travels, you will also have the chance to see Fallingwater, Frank Lloyd Wright's famous architectural marvel, and tour the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. There will also be opportunities to join in on a number of walking and bike tours.
