Travel Bound reports that it saw a double digit increase in the number of room nights booked in Switzerland in 2014, and with a promotion in partnership with Switzerland Tourism, the wholesaler is hoping to push that number even higher in 2015.
The joint promotion, targeting Canadian and American travel agents, is based on the presentation of three "Grand Tours," three sample itineraries that can be used as templates for building customized itineraries according to clients' preferences. The itineraries are designed to showcase Switzerland's history and culture as well as its natural beauty.
The five-day itinerary is from Basel to Geneva and includes a chance to check out any of the 40-some museums in Basel; opportunities to sample chocolate, cheese and wine; a ride on the Golden Express train along Lake Geneva and a tour of the office of the United Nations in Geneva.
The seven-day itinerary from Zurich to Lugano includes a Classic Trolly tour; a cruise on Lake Zurich; a gondola or cable car ride to the top of Mount Pilatus; Rhine Falls; Munot Fortress and St. Gallen's Baroque cathedral, with opportunities to explore traditional costumes and folklore.
The nine-day itinerary is from Geneva to Zurich with a train ride through Geneva; the Chateau de Chillon at Montreaux; the Lavaux Vineyards; Europe's highest train station on the Jungfrau Railway; views of the Aletsch Glacier and the Ice Grotto of Mount Titlis.
Various options are offered for rounding out a full tour package.
"With this promotion, we offer the best and most comprehensive experience of one of the world's most historic and beautiful destinations, at the best possible price," said Elizabeth Crabill, Travel Bound president. "The flexibility of Travel Bound's website means that travel agents can 'pick and mix' destination options in the promotion as well as changing accommodation, sightseeing and experiences."
