Want to hear about the career journey that led a former corporate travel agent to become president of one of the largest cruise lines in the world? Then join us at the Agent@Home Travel Summit, Sept. 29-Oct. 2 in Atlantic City, N.J., when Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, speaks during the first general session and then is interviewed and available for questions from the audience.
Duffy, who joined Carnival in February of this year, is one of a number of women recently named to oversee major cruise lines in what has become a revamping of the cruise industry's executive ranks over the past two years. She's now at the helm of the world's largest cruise line, overseeing 43,000 employees and 24 cruise ships.
Before Carnival, Duffy served for four years as president and CEO of the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), the trade association representing the more than $35 billion global cruise industry. She also spent 10 years at Maritz Travel Company where she served six years as president and CEO, managing a business with more than $600 million in revenue and working with a variety of Fortune 500 corporations on their corporate meetings, events and incentive travel programs.
She serves on various travel industry boards, including the U.S. Travel Association, the international foundation board for Meeting Professionals International (MPI), advisory board for Starwood Hotels, and the board of directors for Visit Florida.
Duffy has been recognized for her industry and community leadership. In 2007, she was inducted into the Convention Industry Council Hall of Leaders. Corporate Meetings and Incentives chose her as one of the "Top 10 Women Leaders in the Meeting Industry," and Meetings News magazine named her one of the "25 Most Influential People in the Meetings Industry" four times.
Agent@Home Travel Summits, the first of their kind, provide a forum where home-based travel agents, the readers of Agent@Home magazine, can network, learn how to improve their business, and discover more about travel industry products and services. This year we are featuring twin summits in Long Beach, Calif., Sept. 15-18, and Atlantic City, N.J., Sept. 29-Oct. 2.
The summits bring Agent@Home, the only magazine that caters to home-based travel professionals and entrepreneurs, to life by offering extensive educational programming covering the top issues facing the travel agency trade today. Agent@Home is a sister publication to TravelPulse.com. For more information or to register, click on Agent@Home Travel Summit.
