Airline Ticket Sales Fall for US Travel Agencies

On Wednesday, air travel intelligence and commerce company Airlines Reporting Corp. released the results of a study that indicate tickets sold by travel agencies in the United States dropped 10 percent in July.
According to the data provided by ARCCorp.com, the total sales of airline tickets sold by U.S.-based travel agencies in July 2016 thad decreased 10.2 percent to $6.6 billion when compared year over year.
In addition, travel agency airline ticket sales also dipped overall, with a drop of 4.8 percent in the first seven months of 2016. The total thus far for 2016 is $52.7 billion in sales, compared to the $55.4 billion in sales from the same period in 2015.

As a whole, ticket transactions stayed about the same with an estimated 13 million this year. While the domestic transactions have seen a 1.93 percent drop to nine million, the international transactions have risen 4.05 percent to just under four million.
