Just in time for Wave Season, Carnival Cruise Line has updated its Travel Agent Rewards Program based on a new point redemption system that presents gift cards electronically. Now travel professionals can choose from a greater selection that is deliverable within 30 minutes.

Gift cards in the program now encompass many added retail and restaurant options. Carnival has also launched a new version of its point redemption website to make the Rewards Program that much more conveniently accessible.

"With these enhancements, agents will be able to select from more gift offerings that best suit their preferences and won't have to wait for cards to arrive in the mail," said Carnival's Vice President of Sales & Trade Marketing Adolfo Perez in a statement. "We've also upgraded the usability of the redemption website, giving agents a more intuitive and simplified approach to redeeming their points."

Improvements made to the Travel Agent Rewards Program website include a refreshed ordering tool that underlines frequently viewed items while providing the ability to add items to wish lists. It has also been made easier to view and track orders and their status. Meanwhile, Canadian travel agents now have a listing of gift cards specific to their market available in Canadian dollars.

The point breakdown for redemption is such that agents may redeem in increments of 10,000 and 20,000 for gift cards valued at $50 and $100 respectively. Points are initially earned according to online booking activity and non-reservation activity like meeting with the Carnival sales team. Hidden codes in Carnival's trade emails also add up to points. All can be discovered at GoCCL.com.

Having a look at the site myself as a graphic designer and web developer, I see that the same user-friendly and fun approach to the consumer Carnival.com homepage is in full swing here for travel professionals as well. Of course, I can't log in to the Travel Agent Rewards Program, but if I was a salesperson, I would be inclined to sign up based on the site's attractiveness alone.
