It's Travel Entrepreneurship Week (#TEW2017), and it's time for travel agents to learn more about their business.
Meredith Hill, ASTA Entrepreneur of the Year, will be hosting a free week-long virtual summit from June 5 through the 9th, where you can learn to market your business.
"The summit focuses on empowering travel professionals as business owners," said Vanessa McGovern, EVP, Strategic Partnerships & Business Development of the Global Institute for Travel Entrepreneurs. "Oftentimes travel professionals get too caught up in product training and don't spend enough time learning how to market themselves in the digital age."
McGovern explained that there is no amount of product training that is going to make a travel agent get their ideal client.
"In today's new marketplace you have to position yourself as an expert, create clear and compelling language around how to articulate your business, leverage digital platforms to get your message across and most importantly you have to embrace entrepreneurship," she said.
"During TEW 2017 we will outline the framework for marketing yourself in today's new landscape and feature travel professionals who are executing these strategies effortless and successfully."
GIFTE is a travel business education and mentoring company that has been around since 2011 and has 700+ paid members. They are member funded and focus on marketing and business education vs. supplier training.
This is their second annual event. "We did a similar event in September 2016," said McGovern. "Agents really respond well to consuming their information via Facebook, so we really leverage that particular distribution channel."
