Two of the biggest names in travel are coming together.
Wisconsin-based The Mark Travel Corp. said it has reached an agreement to acquire New York-based Exclusive Group Travel.
EGT will now come under the Funjet Vacations brand, one of several owned and managed by Mark Travel including United Vacations, Southwest Vacations and Blue Sky Tours, which specializes in Hawaiian destinations.
In a statement, Mark Travel said the deal would benefit travel agents with more booking options, including a call center and group support out of EGT's current New York offices, and called it "a significant moment for The Mark Travel Corporation and will combine the best of both organizations to strengthen the company's commitment to travel agents. Each organization brings industry expertise and travel pedigree that when combined will provide best-in-class travel agent service."
"This is an extremely exciting time for us," Mark Noennig, executive vice president of travel agency engagement at The Mark Travel Corporation, said in a statement.
Added Steve Gorga, president of EGT: "The Mark Travel Corporation's acquisition of Exclusive Group Travel will provide an immediate increase in product offerings, tools and resources to the EGT travel agent community. Mark Travel is the perfect home for EGT, and I am confident travel agents who support EGT will receive the same excellent service and support that they have come to expect."
Founded in 2014, Exclusive Group Travel is a tour operator selling exclusively to travel agents, specializing in FIT and group travel of all kinds. The company's primary focus is group vacations to specific destinations in Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America.
The Mark Travel Corporation was founded in 1974 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A La Macchia Enterprises (LME) company, The Mark Travel Corporation owns and manages several respected vacation brands.
