MAST Sales Sensation Expected to Break Attendance Records This Year
The Pulse: MAST Sales Sensation Expected to Draw Record-Breaking Attendance
Why it Rates: ASTA president & CEO Zane Kerby and Chelas Poirier, ASTA’s manager of membership and convention sales, will be on hand for MAST’s annual fall product launch and trade show Nov. 17 at the Drury Lane Theatre and Conference Center in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.
The ASTA executives want to lend their support to a MAST/ASTA partnership created with the goal of having the majority of MAST members join ASTA. Last year, MAST agreed to pay a portion of ASTA’s membership dues for MAST members. The consortium joins a growing number of agency groups in supporting ASTA. Virtuoso is subsidizing ASTA membership dues while the Travel Leaders Franchise Group and the Signature Travel Network have mandated membership for their agencies. – Robin Amster, travel agents and host agency editor
MAST’s annual fall product launch and trade show Nov. 17 is expected to break last year’s record in attendance with more travel agent members, more exhibitors, more seminars, and more speakers. Over 350 agents and over 100 exhibitors will be on hand. MAST Sales Sensation is the third largest travel industry event in the Midwest.
The theme of this year’s show is “Explore Opportunities” and will be held at Drury Lane Theatre and Conference Center in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, where it has been held for the past six years. Bus transportation from Davenport, Iowa, and from Sheboygan and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is available and provides a convenient way for MAST members in Iowa, western Illinois and Wisconsin to participate.
A tradition of the event is a Destination Immersion seminar. This year, The Tourist Office of Spain and the region of Andalusia will present this two-hour workshop. Other seminars throughout the day include: Apple Vacations featuring their newer and fast-growing destination such as Costa Rica, Panama, and the newest destination, Cuba; Rail Travel on the Rise by Amtrak Vacations; Experiential Travel, Boutique Hotels, and Luxury Getaways by Classic Vacations; Cuba Demystified by Globus family of brands; and other seminars by the Mexico Tourism Board, Travel Impressions, Insight Vacations, Viking Cruises, and Celestial Cruises. Of special note are two additional seminars, Galapagos Islands Expedition by Celebrity Cruises, and G-101 by G Adventures.
During the day, MAST members will be able to drop by four educational Cafes for hands-on training and chat with specialists on ClientBase, receive social media advice, learn about C&H Intl Trip Pro and meet with representatives from the region of Andalusia in Spain. The trade fair is interactive and fun featuring entertainment, food and beverage, games, costumes, and visual arts as preferred suppliers and exhibitors draw travel agents to their exhibit areas and vie for the Best MAST Sales Sensation Exhibit Awards.
ASTA will be represented by Zane Kerby, President & CEO, and Chelas Poirier, to lend support for the partnership ASTA and MAST have formed to bring the majority of MAST members into ASTA. The evening show offers a plated four-course, sit-down dinner, video presentations, more than fifty door prizes with trips, cruises, hotel stays, and air tickets, among other prizes.
