The International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association opened registration today for its 34th Annual Global Convention. The conference is the premier educational and networking event for the global LGBT tourism industry and will be held May 4-6, 2017 in St. Petersburg, Fla. at the Renaissance Vinoy St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club.
U.S. Travel Association President/CEO Roger Dow will deliver a welcome address at the conference, focusing on data from the U.S. travel market. The Washington, D.C.-based organization represents all segments of travel in the United States, an industry that generates $2.1 trillion in economic output.
"We are opening our registration on Sept. 27 in honor of World Tourism Day, which was established by the UNWTO to raise global awareness about the social, cultural, political and economic value of tourism," IGLTA president and CEO John Tanzella said. "This is a mission that IGLTA shares, with an emphasis on the value of LGBT tourism. Our convention unites worldwide industry leaders to support the growth of a more inclusive travel industry."
Conference registration includes all educational sessions, networking lunches and evening receptions. The convention also features a Buyer/Supplier Marketplace, the only global appointment-driven LGBT networking event of its kind; and a Media Trade Show, which connects attendees with global print and digital media outlets as well as bloggers and social media influencers working in the LGBT travel space.
