North American air travelers looking to save big on airfare are likely to stumble across sooner than later.

Started by Zachary Cohn, who is also the founder and CEO of Wonful Consulting, the new service promises to alert travelers to only the "craziest legal, valid fares" out there. However, a steep savings on plane ticket prices, 50 percent or more, comes at the expense of convenience for all but the most flexible and spontaneous air traveler.

The $7.99 monthly fee won't break the bank, but the fact that an alert may arrive for a heavily discounted flight that is taking off 3,000 miles away makes this a service business travelers will most likely avoid.

However, for leisure travelers or anyone eyeing an impromptu vacation, Amazing Airfares has the potential to be a game changer.

"The deals work best if you stay flexible. If you reallllly want to go to St. Petersburg, there might a killer deal from New York," states the website's FAQ page. "But if said you only want deals from Seattle...You’re going to miss it! It’s best to keep travel plans open, buy repositioning flights, and go on your dream vacation."

Essentially, customers who are open-minded to their next destination and have a flexible schedule are going to get the most out of their experience with the new service.

And if travel is a customer's priority or passion, the service is likely to pay for itself.

The challenge moving forward will be competing with similar services that are free to use.
