A catchy name, a bunch of pockets and the versatility that travelers love has seen Nomatic’s travel bag skyrocket on Kickstarter.

As and Lonely Planet note, the exciting new product has quickly become the crowd funding website’s most successful travel bag ever.

Before we get to the bag and its features, let’s get to the stats, which are particularly remarkable. As of this writing, Nomatic – an item that was targeting just $20,000 on Kickstarter – cleared almost $2 million by August 31.

Here is a video that will give you an inkling as to why it has done so very well in its campaign foray.

The one thing travelers want is versatility in their luggage. It’s a pain to have to bring a few bags when one would suffice. It’s almost clichéd to say that space is a commodity on holiday, but so rarely do we see bag makers really take this to heart.

In the case of Nomatic, you’re getting over 20 useful items in one. It’s like a backpacker’s dream come to life as a bag peppered with pockets aims to hit the market.

The $179 option on Kickstarter nets you a Nomatic travel bag, a laundry bag and an add-on (mentioned in the video) of your choice. All of this is promised to ship by February of next year.

The coolest aspect of the Nomatic travel bag has to be its versatility, acting as a duffel, backpack or carry-on. It suits the needs of the intrepid globe trotter who ambles various roadways with one bag on his back as well as the corporate road warrior who totes a laptop to various airports around the world.

Various pockets resist water while others are sure to separate the wires from the documents and books.

Everything has its place and are tucked away in a brilliant manner. In the end, it wasn’t some technological breakthrough that toppled Kickstarter but a bag with clever engineering that made it to the top of the most funded bags in the website’s history.
