Want your very own mini-action figure but aren’t in any superhero or “Star Wars” movie? Well, Costa Cruises has a solution for you lucky ducks enjoying a trip on the lavish Costa Diadema.
Essentially, you can immortalize your holiday jubilation with a 3D-printed replica of yourself—replete with whatever questionable outfit you chose to wear that day.
Costa Cruises states that it has collaborated with Labs3D to give guests an opportunity to one spectacular souvenir.
The cruise line explains the process that will have you adorning your desk with a mini-you: “Shipboard experts will complete a full body scan using a handheld scanner in minutes. After capturing every detail of a person — from hairstyle to arm position — the file generated by the software program is sent via secure link to the Labs3D studio in Barcelona. There, the file is processed in a 3-D printer, creating a miniature three-dimensional likeness of the guest.”
The above image illustrates the process for guests, which will eventually lead to you unwrapping the following upon your return home.
Exchange your likeness in place for this anonymous but completely pleased individual and you get the idea.
Here are a few more examples, including how your desk might look if you grab the opportunity to be immortalized in miniature form:
Now for the specifics: The souvenirs are made available for those who are traveling in the western Mediterranean aboard Costa Diadema’s seven-day journeys.
As for prices, we understand that you would break the bank for the opportunity to live out a childhood dream of having your very own action figure (Read: souvenir).
However, Costa Cruises offers three various sizes starting at about $100. A press release states: “The 3-D reproductions are available in five sizes (converted from metric): 5-1/8 inches tall, 6 inches, 6-11/16 inches, 7-1/2 inches and 8-1/4 inches. Prices start at €89 (US$97) plus shipping expenses.”
Now you have a reason to not only board the Costa Diadema but to also pack away any pop culture outfit that may just take your action figure to the next level.
