You need more than a bunch of snacks and a working air conditioner for summer road trips. You need a reliable virtual buddy riding shotgun.

Google Maps is just one of myriad navigation apps that help you get to where you want to go.

Thankfully, the app continues to evolve to meet road trippers’ demands.

Google recently unveiled two updates that should enhance all those long trips you are planning in the next few months.

The app now has multi-stop directions and a note system to go along with the rest of its options you have come to enjoy.

According to the blog post, the features are available for Android, so you iOS people will have to be a bit more patient.

As for the multi-stop directions, you can now add various stops along the way, peppering the journey with directional chapters if you will.

No road trip is ever a Point A to Point B scenario. There are myriad pit stops you simply can’t avoid. Now it’s far easier to stay on track.

As for the notation feature, it’s described as a way to go back and give your trip some specifics in the form of notes.

Now you can remember that diner you promised never to forget or that funny story that took place because of that bizarre off-ramp.

Both features set Google Maps apart from just a simple navigation app. Slowly it’s beginning to evolve into a crucial tool that will help archive what may just be spectacular times with friends and family in the car.
