KeepTrax Inc., an “Internet of Me” mobile technology company, announced the launch of a new app on Monday designed to create digital diaries and capture memories for travelers.

The app, which will be available through select travel professionals on July 1, is called KeepTrax Travel. KeepTrax Travel allows travel agents to offer a private, branded mobile app to their clients that intuitively captures destinations, photos taken, distance traveled and other trip facts, and wraps it all up in a nice neat little travelogue. Travel professionals can interact with their clients both during the trip and after the trip, while also having the opportunity to tack on incremental revenue with the app.

Kedar Benegal, founder and CEO of KeepTrax, traveled a lot when he used to work for major travel technology company Sabre. He told TravelPulse that he became tired of having to organize all his photos after long trips, and it wasn’t until after a trip that he wished he had kept a journal of sorts. Thus, KeepTrax Travel was created.

KeepTrax Travel will automatically take all of a traveler’s photos, select the best ones, and then lay them out in several different formats, whether they be arranged next to a timeline that retells a traveler’s story or an orderly list. The app will also drop pins on a digital map where the traveler visited, while adding the names of the locations and capturing arrival and departure times.

On top of that, each day, travelers receive a “Daily Snapshot” of their day’s activities for quick viewing, delivered in PDF format via email or through the Internet.

KeepTrax Travel also allows agencies to sell high-quality hard copy travelogues/photo albums of the trip to clients for additional moneymaking opportunities.

Benegal added that the app uses big data to monitor travelers’ preferences. The data is initially private, but travelers can choose to share some details for a more enriching experience if they want.

Perhaps the greatest advantage KeepTrax Travel offers to travel professionals is its ability to drive engagement, Benegal said.

“Engagement is such a challenge with travel,” Benegal said. “It’s difficult to maintain relationships. When you start offering something that allows people to capture memories, (I thought), “Holy cow, this is really something that could help with engagement.”

KeepTrax Travel has a feature called ShareTrax, which allows travelers to share their trips in real time with their friends and family. The feature has already become quite popular with travel agencies because of its ability to boost engagement, Benegal said. Travelers can also rate destinations.

The app is fully customizable, giving professionals the ability to choose the color, slap on their personal logo, add trip ID info and more.

Benegal said KeepTrax is looking into partnering with a company to use technology to improve the app’s photo selection process, ensuring that the absolute best photos make it on the travelogue.

Tour operator Joshua Expeditions will be among the first travel agencies to use the KeepTrax Travel app.
