It just wouldn’t be the celebration of new beginnings without myriad technological advancements being checked off on our smart phones.

With that, we give you the final iteration for the year in Kill it With Tech, where we offer some innovative ways you might solve travel’s conundrums.

This week, we thought it appropriate to concentrate on New Year’s Eve festivities, seeing as how we alleviated your holiday travel miscues already.

Here is a healthy smattering of various apps that may help wherever you find yourself during the frivolity of this special day.

If you don’t have plans or are in a city you aren’t terribly familiar with, this lovely new app will help you scour the town like a local.

Seeing as how it relies on an algorithm looking at social media feeds, we assume it will be packed with great things to do on New Year’s Eve.

Drinking and driving is dangerous, dumb and completely avoidable with apps like Uber at the helm.

Chances are, wherever you are, cabs and ride-sharing apps will be packed. So it helps to have a number of them on your phone. Sidecar is another option.

Times Square:

Whether you find yourself among thousands of tourists at this iconic New York haven for spectacle or enjoying merriment at home, this app will provide a generous dose of information as well as entertainment.

There is no shortage of places on the Internet to find local events. However, I find that Thrillist has a way of locking down all the more eventful attractions no matter the time of year.

As you can see, there is really no reason to turn what might be a wonderful vacation during a special time of the year into something truly awful by driving drunk.

The above listed app has several ways for people to hire personal sober drivers, including a way to, “Schedule a pickup using the GPS on your phone.”

Hangover Cures:

Something tells us you will need this the next morning.
