Planned Drives: What's in Waze's Latest Update?

Waze is taking the whim out of your next drive.

The popular navigation app has a gift in the form of its 4.3 update, which comes with something called Planned Drives.

It’s like a travel assistant that reminds you when you should leave for your trip.

Granted, that sounds kind of useless, because you know very well about that trip. You have been planning it for weeks and you can’t wait to arrive in Las Vegas and pop open that tall can of beer.

There is more in this update, thankfully, like an alarm of sorts that will tip you as to when the best time to leave might be, which takes the guessing game out of preparing the perfect departure.

Waze’s blog explains: “Enter the time and date you need to arrive and Waze will recommend the best time to leave. You’ll also receive a reminder closer to your event with an updated departure time based upon real-time road conditions. Just set it and forget it.”

There are some clever tweaks to really integrate Waze and the new Planned Drives into your life.

According to the blog, you can tether the app to your calendar or Facebook, which means any trips or upcoming events get added.

And, of course, you have the opportunity to add stops, which might be as crucial as a pit stop for the lavatory or coffee or as whimsical as that large ball of twine you never knew you wanted to see.

Travel is arduous enough. Thankfully, the amount of brain cells wasted on planning the endeavor is much less nowadays.
