Facebook Live is getting a lot of love recently, so we figured we would introduce you to what might very well be the manner in which you record and share your travel selfies in the future.

For the uninitiated, Facebook Live is what it sounds like; it’s a relatively new feature that allows Facebook users the ability to stream and publish live video across their feed.

Many of you are familiar with the currently more renowned and tested Periscope that accomplishes a similar feat.

The advent allows many in the know to watch live feeds of everything from festivals to friend’s soirees from across the globe.

Facebook’s Live innovation has been in place since last year in the form of celebrities who were granted access.

But slowly, things have gravitated to we regular folk who make up a larger section of the Internet.

On Wednesday, Facebook unveiled more features for Live. But first, here is a short video that should hint at the wide reaching possibilities for travelers hoping to connect or boast from afar.

As the release mentions, there are some intriguing innovations unveiled Wednesday: broadcast to groups and friends; ability for viewers to react in real time; invitation feature; and Live Maps option (desktop).

That means you can now scour a map and discover various feeds that are offering a spotlight on certain events around this great planet of ours. Now if you want to know what all the hubbub in London is all about, you now have another outlet for the curiosity.

And for you travelers, professional or otherwise, you have the ability to create a group for your followers or friends.

This is particularly intriguing for business travelers who might want to check in with the family back home, because you can then get virtual hugs in the form of emojis in real time.

As for the invitation feature, Facebook states that you can now invite a buddy to watch that video you are enjoying the second you are enjoying it.

And slowly you begin to realize where things are headed. In time we may decline that snapshot Instagram to be posted later and instead decide to host our own live video show from a cozy café while on vacation.

So often we wish we could bring our loved ones along with us. Now we have a feature tied to our most precious social circles that will allow us to do just that.
