When you’re traveling, your smart phone is your best friend and often the only thing standing between you and a vacation disaster.

You have your app for tracking your flight always handy, especially now that they’re doing away with gate announcements. Then you have your app for keeping track of your medications and what they’re called overseas. Then you have your translator app.

Oh, and thanks to that button down around the bottom somewhere, your smart phone also works as a telephone in a pinch.

Yes, the wealth of apps available to the modern traveler has made trotting the globe a cinch, even if all those icons do clutter up the homescreen a bit. And switching between them can be a bit of a pill.

What if you could do all that from one app, though? What if one single travel app could handle every aspect of your travel from wheels up to bags unpacked?

That question is probably what Allianz had in mind when they unleashed the latest version of their celebrated TravelSmart mobile app.

“The TravelSmart app solves a number of important issues that consumers face when traveling abroad,” said Joe Mason, Chief Marketing Officer at Allianz Global Assistance USA.

Indeed, the app integrates a host of handy options for travelers, including flight information rendered in real time, access to your Allianz travel insurance policies, one-touch dialing of international emergency numbers and the TravelSmart hotline.

Need help while abroad? The ingenious medication directory allows you to store a photo of your prescription label and quickly find its international name. The app can even help you find the nearest Allianz-reviewed healthcare provider and assist in the translation of first aid terms.

With so many functions, TravelSmart 2.0 is one app you won’t want to travel without.

“Now anyone can use their smartphone to quickly and easily navigate first aid and medical issues and reach our travel assistance department with the touch of a button,” added Mason.

The TravelSmart app is free to download and use and can be accessed by visiting It can also be located in the Apple App Store at and coming soon in the Google Play store at
