The Crystal Apple Award is one of the most coveted awards in the travel industry. Truly a “People’s Choice” Award, it is bestowed to the “Best of the Best" in various categories as chosen by Apple Vacationers. Each year, hundreds of thousands of customers complete a Vacation Satisfaction Questionnaire upon returning home from their Apple Vacation. The Crystal Apple Award winners are determined through the data collected from these post-vacation surveys.
Apple Vacations’ Golden Apple Hotel Award is given to those hotels that have earned exceptional customer ratings. Some are moderate and others deluxe, but all Golden Apple Hotels offer an exceptional standard of quality, service and value. Travel agents report that the Golden Apple designation builds consumer confidence and has a major influence on purchase decisions.
The Apple Vacations Golden Apple Gala was held at the iconic Art Institute of Chicago. Attendees, including hotel and airline executives, top tourism officials and elite travel agents, had cocktails and hors d'oeuvres at the museum’s impressive Grand Staircase and then enjoyed a private viewing of the Impressionist Galleries which include Georges Seurat’s “A Sunday on the Island of La Grande Jatte – 1884”, “Stacks of Wheat (End of Day, Autumn) by Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh’s “The Bedroom.” Additionally, attendees viewed a special exhibition of “Degas: At the Track, On the stage,” a focused exhibition exploring the artist’s career-long fascination with the figure in motion through the subjects of the racetrack and ballet. Dinner was held at Louis Sullivan’s “Chicago Stock Exchange Room.”
The following day, Apple Vacations hosted its premiere trade show event at Drury Lane in Oak Brook Terrace, IL engaging more than 1,000 travel agents, one of the most attended in the industry. Representatives from major airlines, ground operators, car rental companies, tourism boards and hotels networked with retailers and disseminated materials at 125 booths.
