Morocco is rich with history, culture, and tradition. And it is one of the world’s top luxury travel destinations. The following is a list of our favorite things to do while staying in Morocco. Be sure to put these items on your itinerary, they are sure to please.

    Tanneries in Fes

The city of Fes is known for its leather goods. Most of them come from the Bazaar located in Old Fes. The tanneries have been around since medieval times and surprisingly, very little has changed. This makes for a captivating visit. After dropping by, be sure to stop off in the leather shop to grab your share of jackets, handbags, and footwear.

    Stroll Through Chefchaouen

This city is home to buildings painted the most brilliant shade of blue. Located right in the middle of the Riffs Mountains, this place will have you feeling as though you’ve stepped out of time and into a fairy tale. Plenty of shops are to be found there, just make sure you bring plenty of money to spend.

    Visit a Riad

Think of this as a scenario where you are entering someone's home kitchen. They will teach you how to cook some of the most delectable Moroccan food on the planet. Since Moroccan gastronomy is a combination of Turkish cuisine and Middle Eastern fare with touches of French influence, the food here is amazing.

Most of the cooking classes take about a half-day to complete and will have you purchasing your own fresh ingredients from the local market, and then preparing it in traditional Moroccan style. You can even stay in a Riad too. These homes are magnificent and are quite a nice alternative to traditional hotels.

Some of the biggest breaks in the world can be found in Morocco at certain times of the year. The most popular time to hit the waves is during the winter season. Swells during this period are consistent and reliable. Be sure to check with your hotel before you book to see if a surfing adventure can be added to your itinerary when you are there.

Spend the Night In the Sahara

It is the stuff of movie legend, and also makes quite a nice place to pitch a tent for a few evenings. The best place to take in the Sahara at night is found just south of the town of Erfoud. There, in Merzouga, you can relive your favorite scenes from “The Mummy” since a portion of the movie was filmed there. One word of advice though, make sure you book a camel for your trip as that is by far the best way to navigate the sandy terrain.

    Stay In a Luxury Hotel

Places such as Sofitel Palaus Jamai Fes, Kasbah Agafay Hotel and Spa, and Palais Namaskar offer sprawling acreage, intimate suites, gorgeously outfitted tents, and inspiring pools with great views of the surrounding area. This is luxury accommodation at its finest and you will not be disappointed with your palatial surroundings. Book a stay and see why luxury in Morocco is the perfect way to complement your overall experience.

There are other things that could be added to this list too, such as hiking the mountains, or hitting the slopes for a ski session, which are other activities that are sure to please. They even have equipment for you to rent so no need to pack anything. Morocco is host to a plethora of luxury recreational activities. One of the most captivating places on Earth; it is sure to become one of your favorite luxury destinations.
