This trip to the nations of the United Arab Emirates is a journey through "one of the most ultramodern, technologically advanced parts of the world," Gilbert said, adding that beyond the 21st-century skyscrapers and attractions, ancient traditions are still evident.

Alaska and the Yukon
This far north region is a symphony of pristine landscapes, glaciers and tons of wildlife - while human history in Alaska and the Yukon is a mix of gold rush fever and frontier spirit.
Machu Picchu and the Galapagos
Take a domed train through the Andes and explore Machu Picchu, the famed "Lost City of the Incas." After spending time in the area, it's off to Galapagos and its amazing array of wildlife.
South Africa, Victoria Falls and Botswana
