The beginning of the summer family travel season is here, and the excitement of getting out of town is palpable for adults and kids alike. Memorial Day weekend signals the end of school and the beginning of days where kids are free to roam and play and discover – be it at home or in a far away place.

This year, the Resort at Paws Up is enticing families with new adventures and special values thanks to several resort enhancements sure to satiate the adventurous at heart.

    The Sky Line

Thrillseekers will be especially excited for a new outdoor challenge. Sure, there are cattle drives, rappelling down 180-foot cliffs and ATV rides but, now, Paws Up has raised the bar with Sky Line – a high-ropes course that is now available in addition to its 50-plus offered actitvities. Sky Line allows guests to tackle the two-hour, 10-platform tour, which is complete with 22-foot drops and a 40-foot free fall, sure to challenge physical and mental abilities.

The course has different routes for all skill levels, and the first go is complimentary. It is available to children 8 years and older and is open daily – but the resort requires that guests make a reservation.

    Kids Corps Discovery

There are some new additions for families visiting the Resort at Paws Up this summer. Signature activities include a petting zoo, a go-kart track, horse painting (yes, an actual horse serves as a model) and hatchet throwing. Now, in addition, there is sapphire mining, Blackfoot River kayaking and the Old West Rifle Range to look forward to.

Basically, Paws Up is akin to a 37,000-acre playground for families and the Kids Corps Discovery is like the activities director for the grounds, offering wilderness activities, educational journeys and classic summer camp games such as capture the flag. Parents can sign children up for a set itinerary, created with the Kids Corps Discovery staff and available for kids ages 4 to 17. There are also nanny services available, as well, perfect for couples who want to enjoy an evening to themselves.

    Wilderness Workshops

Ever wanted to know how to perform tricks with a kite, drum in a drum circle or take a cooking class? Complimentary Wilderness Workshops at Paws Up keep the whole clan engaged with a variety of different activities offered throughout the summer. This year’s experiences include kite-flying, the culinary academy, block printing and mosaics, photography and more.

    Luxury Homes

To really make families feel at home during their stay, Paws Up has one-, two- and three-bedroom luxury homes available. Each home offers scenic views, rustic furnishings and amenities such as fireplaces, hot tubs, expansive wraparound decks and more. Some even have a backyard safari-style tent with electricity, a set of comfy beds, lounge furniture and toys and games – perfect for the kiddos.
