All Aboard: Thomas & Friends Takes Flight With Virgin Atlantic

All Aboard: Thomas & Friends Takes Flight With Virgin Atlantic

Children will get to preview the new Thomas & Friends movie “Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure” before it hits theaters if they are lucky enough to be flying on Virgin Atlantic. From Aug 1-8, young fliers will be able to watch the movie onboard.

Everyone’s favorite little blue engine has been entertaining children around the world for more than 70 years and it’s full steam ahead this summer as Thomas and his engine friends take to the skies for an adventure in the air. On all of Virgin Atlantic’s international routes throughout the month of August, families will be able to sit back, relax and enjoy the new movie in which Thomas embarks on a curious quest, scouring the Island of Sodor for treasure.

The new 60-minute special will introduce a host of new characters, including Ryan, voiced by Academy Award-winner Eddie Redmayne, Sailor John (John Hurt) and trusted sail boat Skiff (Jamie Campbell Bower) and is sure to keep little ones at the edge of their seat during the flight.

The fun doesn’t stop there, however. Pint-size passengers will also receive a fun in-flight kids pack, including coloring activities, games and a Thomas Minis collectable engine to keep them entertained while in the air. And on the ground, visitors to the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse will be gifted with a Thomas & Friends engine to take on their travels.

“We are thrilled to announce this partnership with Virgin Atlantic and are really looking forward to seeing young families get excited about traveling,” said Kate Schlomann, vice president global brand at HIT Entertainment commented. “The partnership is a continuation of celebrations to mark 70 years of the brand, and we’re sure fans will be as delighted as we are to see Thomas soar.”

“We’re always looking for new ways to surprise and delight our customers and partnering with another iconic British brand is a great way to achieve this,” Reuben Arnold, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Customer Experience at Virgin Atlantic commented. “We’re both globally recognized names and by joining forces with Thomas & Friends we’re able to provide an exciting onboard experience, particularly for our younger travelers, which we hope they’ll enjoy over the coming months.”

With a year-long program of additional themed activity taking place around the world, little engineers everywhere can celebrate their favorite No. 1 blue engine.
