Best Places To Chow Down in Boulder, Colorado

Best Places To Chow Down in Boulder, Colorado

It seems everyone we know these days wants to move to Colorado. Seeing as it consistently ranks as one of the healthiest and happiest states in the US, its appeal is hardly any surprise.

We decided we were way overdue for a few weeks in Colorado to understand firsthand what all the fuss is about. To start off our adventure, we decided on the hip and happening city of Boulder. Repeatedly voted as one of the top places to live in the US, Boulder is a haven for nature lovers, night owls, fitness fanatics, beer drinkers and foodies alike. While we knew hiking the Flatirons was at the top of our to-do list, we didn't realize just how much the area excelled in not only aesthetic beauty but also gastronomy. It only took a few minutes of wandering popular Pearl Street and the surrounding downtown area to realize that Boulder is a foodies’ dream come true.

While you’ll have no problem finding awesome restaurants and bars just about anywhere, here are a few of the best places to chow down in Boulder, Colorado:

    Pizzeria Locale

Just as the name suggests, this local pizza spot in the heart of downtown is where it’s at! Combining the best of Naples and Boulder, this is not your average take out pizza joint. Sit down and savor one of their delicious pies paired with a glass of wine or classic Italian spritz. For a truly local experience, grab a seat at the pizza bar and stir up a friendly conversation with the chefs as they go about crafting the perfect pizza right in front of you.

    The Med

Whether you like your Mediterranean served plate by plate or family style, the Med turns out an eclectic collection of cuisine that’s as diverse as the residents who live here—and for a price that’s hard to beat. From tasty tapas to paella that will make your palate sing, this is one restaurant you won’t want to miss. Make sure to look up from your meal and enjoy the restaurant’s Mediterranean-inspired art, blue tile accents and colorful chandeliers.

Colorado may be landlocked, but that doesn’t stop Jax from serving up delicious seafood. Come for the oyster bar, stay for the creative cocktails like the Jax Manhattan or the Hospitali-Tea. Prices are on the higher end here so get in during happy hour to save a few bucks.

    The Kitchen

This is quite possibly the most guilt-free meal you’ll ever eat. The philosophy of the farm-to-table American style kitchen was built “by a community of craftsman, serving food & drink from local farmers, ranchers and purveyors for the sustainable enjoyment of the whole community.”

The kitchen community is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization which builds learning gardens at schools across the country. Oh, and the food’s great too!

    Corner Bar and Cafe

    Corner Bar Boulder

Our personal favorite spot on Pearl Street is The Corner Bar. Grab a spot on the outdoor patio during happy hour with a basket of truffle fries and enjoy the Colorado sunshine. The hotel interior is gorgeous; while we didn’t get to see the rooms, we can bet this is also a top spot to base your stay in Boulder. Be sure to get here early as seats on the patio fill up fast!

Have you ever been to Boulder? What are your favorite spots to eat?
