“Mature Audiences Only,” requests Busch Gardens Tampa Bay as Howl-O-Scream 2016 brings violence, gore and blood to the theme park for 21 select nights in fall between Sept. 29 and Oct. 30 with a sneak preview Sept. 23-24.

“Evil Encore” is the overarching theme, which involves an obsessed dollmaker named Mr. Karver and his cavalcade of suddenly-alive demon dolls.

A total of seven haunted houses bring the chills, and each has a distinctive way to scare the pants off visitors. Brand new for this year is “Motel Hell,” where the ghostly presence of former owners will put those who venture inside, “face-to-face with their worst nightmares and inescapable fate,” according to Busch Gardens. Also premiering in 2016 is “The Black Spot,” a place the pirate Saw Tooth Silas sends those who he has marked for death.

And just because you’re not in a haunted house, it doesn’t mean you are safe. Roaming the park are Inescapable Roaming Hordes — a group of gruesome individuals dedicated to having you screeching in fright wherever you go.

Busch Gardens will also be running some of its favorite roller coasters in the dark, which, of course, is its own type of fear.
