Dave and Kay Doherty are quite busy at their respective jobs on Prince Edward Island, Canada, and see stays at Couples Resorts properties in Jamaica as an opportunity to spend quality time together and with friends, and meet new people. The married couple has been to Couples’ Swept Away resort once and Sans Souci 11 times. They describe Sans Souci as “a wonderful playground where we can totally relax and have fun.”
For first-time guests, the Dohertys advise getting to know the staff, as they “will move mountains to make your stay unforgettable,” they said, adding “Do not hesitate to ask for anything” from the staff. Walking the property to suss out all its secrets is also pointed out as a good idea by the Dohertys, who are still finding new things after numerous visits.
In addition to the staff, the couple finds Couples’ Issa Trust Foundation, a Jamaican charitable organization to be unique and praised how it gets guests involved in helping out the country.
Asked what their ideal day at a Couples Resort, the Dohertys said, “Wake up look out the window and smile because we are in paradise. Breakfast at the new Pallizini (great job on the renovations!) Mineral pool in the morning — water aerobics for Kay — sauna for David, Lunch at the Grill or Palilizini then a few drinks at the Beach bar (we love the view). Maybe a nap then Martini Bar and Casanova for dinner. Listen to the tree frogs on the way home to our room.”
